I’d like to talk about the PWRCORE20 batter of SKIL tools. Recently a buddy and I were comparing our new cordless impact drivers on the job site. He has a new DeWalt and I have a new SKIL. His batter is only 1.5Ah while mine is 2Ah. His battery has no other features. Mine has charge indicator lights telling me the status of the battery’s charge. It also has a USB port which is nice. Have used that feature for the last 2 power outages at home. Keeping phone communications is important to us at these times and it works great. I have used this battery in many tools over the last few months. Usually I take the same battery to the tools I’m working with at the moment. I’m hard on tools and batteries and have had to charge it only once. It’s a good designed, tough user friendly product. The power assist USB charging adapter is a unique little device. It converts battery power to duel USB ports. How cool is that? A lot of younger guys on the job like to listen to music on their phones. A charged phone is always a problem for them. This product solves that. My usage would be more likely to keep phones charged during a power outage. It’s nice to have communication at this time as well as receiving text alerts from the power company. Also, I don’t know why it couldn’t be used as a spare batter dust cover. On a job there is a lot of dry wall dust, sawdust and other airborne debri floating around. This also solves that keeping the battery contacts clean.

Charges quickly and the USB is an extra bonus. Lasts more than long enough for the various projects that I’ve used it for. Having a cover to protect the connection points is a nice thing to have.

The Skil Brand, PWRCore 20-Volt 2.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery with PWRAssist Mobile Charging completes skil PWRCore tools supplied with a single battery. My Skil PWRCore hammer drill is a real workhorse, the brushless motor and the 2 Ah battery work as hard as I do. And while the Skil PWRCore 20-Volt Auto PWRJump Charger is fast, having a fully charged battery before stopping work due to completely draining and recharging a single battery is an enormous value to me. I find the PWRCore 20-Volt 2.0 Ah Lithium-Ion battery lasts up to twice as long as my 1.5 Ah lithium batteries with my brush motor tools. And I like the built in power meter so I can swap or recharge batteries when they drop to 25-percent as totally discharging a lithium battery shortens its life.

I got this as an extra battery for my new oscillating multi-tool so that I could always have a battery ready and not have to stop work on my flooring project to charge the original battery. This is a 2 Ah so its fine for the power that the multi-tool need; probably wouldn’t be enough for a saw. I was trimming a bunch of laminate flooring and the bottoms of a half dozen door frames before needing to swap out. The nice gimmick on the battery is that it has a USB port so that you can use it as a powerbank to charge your phone or tablet. I can’t tell the wife about that, otherwise it’ll end up in her purse forever.

I now have two Skil tools and four batteries. 2 , 2Ah batteries and 2, 4Ah batteries. I always want to have a backup and I also like to have a smaller battery for those times when holding a heavier battery will get tiring. The multi tool and the reciprocating saws can both take abeating from what I see and the batteries are right there to handle the load with power to spare.

Skil 20 Volt Extra Battery. This package includes a battery only so you need to already have a CORE 20 tool kit and battery charger. This extra battery is taller than the standard battery most likely due to the added feature of being able to charge your phone from the onboard USB port. Both standard and extra batteries have a string of LED ‘s to indicate power remaining level. The extra battery comes with a shield to protect the charging connections. I will use mine on the Skil 4 piece tool kit I have.

Having an extra Skil PWRCore 20 2.0Ah Lithium-ion battery really comes in handy when you need to recharge your old battery and still have more work to do and you don’t want to wait to finish your project. I have other battery packs from other manufacturers, and this is the first one that has a 5-volt USB port that can be used to charge any USB device, such as my phone or iPad. This could come in handy during bad weather when you lose power, as this battery should last for quite some time to keep my phone charged up if it came to that. This battery has a built-in temperature management system to keep the battery cool and give the battery the longest life possible. This battery is compatible with all Skil 20-volt tools and has a battery level indicator built in it so you know how much of a charge your battery has.

This is my first time reviewing a battery for one of my tools but I had to mention how genius it was to add a USB charging port to the actual battery. I’ve had numerous occasions where I’ve been working and needed an outlet to charge my dying phone. This battery solves that issue. It also charges fast and lasts for a decent amount of time.
