The saw met expectations. I’ve only cut two boards with it so far, but it is a big improvement over the hand saw I was using.

Picked up this saw after my father’s old 11amp Black and Decker went out. I debated on whether or not I needed to spend extra money for one of the other name brands and I’m super glad I didn’t. Everything was square right out of the box. I didn’t use the stock blade as I had a new Diablo blade on hand, so I used that instead. As a weekend DIY’er, it’s everything I could ever ask for. The sights are true (there are even 0* and 45* lines on the back for reference. The dust gets shot straight out the back to keep the front clean. What I really appreciate is the view of the blade from the motor side. You can see where you’re cutting without having to stand over the saw. If you’re working on a job site and need the ruggedness of a higher end brand, then spend the extra money. Otherwise, this saw is all you will ever need.

Good all around saw for the price.

Best saw I’ve ever owned. Prior to this, I returned two saws (one costing more than this saw) due to inferior quality. This cuts quick and true every time.

This saw ebbs professional quality at an affordable price. The motor is smooth and powerful with all-metal guards, and includes a safety feature called Vari-Torque Clutch, which addresses “kickback” – a safety issue in circular saws. If the 90 degree angle-check needs calibration (which my did) it does not involve set screws like many saws do. Instead, you will need to bend/adjust a tab (crescent wrench) resting at the top of foot to complete the calibration. But I had some luck and succeeded in one try. It should be good for life, but checking the 90 degree angle (and 45 degree bevel) is something recommended from time to time for all circular saws. I’m not exactly sure why Skilsaw omitted the set screw other than it eliminates a moving part. Even set screws can shake loose over time.

My previous saw was a different brand. It would not cut straight lines no matter what I did with the adjustments. This skill saw is the best saw I have ever used. I like the fact that it has some weight and the metal base is much thicker than the other saw I has. Great job Skill.
