I really like this Sidewinder although I don’t know where that name comes from. It cuts great! Fairly light & well balanced, smooth running, & easy cutting. It was set perfect out of the box. The best feature for me is “no” trigger lock. Just pull the trigger! That is great for my 68 year old hand. Hard to beat a Skil as this is my fourth and the other three are still going too! I like this one best of all.

Advanced DIY replacing 20-year old precursor of this saw. Have been using this new saw for 2-months doing extensive remodeling on 2 baths, kitchen, new closets, doors, etc. I always want the best I can afford and can tell the difference quality makes. My contractor friend dropped by and said there are better, just as light, sturdier models with features that do more for daily use on job sites but for my project and saving half the price or more this tool is topnotch and close to what the big boys can do.My experience: Better than expected. So far have not had any issues and it’s living up to its hype. I like the power and light weight but I really like that magnesium plate; it just glides over and stays firm on the surface – my old steel base would rise off the wood and the cut would stray off line not to mention getting bent – this plate feels like I have all four wheels on the ground. Nice.

Key where is the magnesium plate. Much better than the steel one. When I got it, it was actually cheaper… seems this models price fluctuates a lot. Was $72 when I bought… cuts well. Have done rips and cross cuts. Nice long cord
