This is a HUGE saw. If you need to cut big things you have come to the right place. See my pictures to compare the size of my old skill saw to this new skill saw. When it arrived, I thought, “Why did they use such a large box to ship this saw?” Turns out the saw used the whole box. My kids built a fort out of the box it came in.There is an amazing amount of power. I ripped a 4×4 like my other saw goes trough 3/4″ plywood. The enormous blade tracks really straight. Nice clean cuts.To be honest, I was afraid to turn this on. It is really intimidating to look at. However as long as your are careful about your hand placement and wood support, it moves along nicely with none of the kickback you might find in a smaller saw. After one cut I was sold, I went from “no way this is too big .. to … this is amazing I can’t live without this”.The 15 amp rating didn’t blow my circuit breaker. It lacks a depth gauge for setting the cut size. I added this with a marker. The main down side to a saw this big is that it is heavy (25 lbs) more than twice the weight of small circular saws. Two hand operation seemed more conformable than one hand. You also need to figure out if you have enough space to store it and if there is enough room to haul it around. It is hard to describe how big this saw is until you see it. I didn’t think hand power tools could ever be this big. While this can cut just about any sized lumber you might have at your project, I’m still keeping my smaller saw around for ease of use.I was lucky to receive this amazing SKILSAW 16-5/16 IN. 15 AMP CORDED ELECTRIC MAGNESIUM WORM DRIVE CIRCULAR SAW WITH 32-TOOTH CARBIDE BLADE for free to write this review.

This saw cuts thick wood like butter! Very smooth cuts. The design and storage case are solid. It’s large but easy to handle. If you need to cut thick wood (3-inch plus). My first experience with Skil was over 35 years ago with house framing and truss building. This saw seems to be true to the standard Skil set years ago.

I was a little intimidated at the size of this saw at first but after the first cut through my project cedar 4″x10″ cedar I feel in love. The ergonomics and balance and power are all well balanced. It had not trouble with the worm drive to power through any cut. I do not regret buying it and am looking forward to the next time I use it.

I bought this a few days ago, I’ve used the makita beam saw before and it has nothing the super saw sasquatch. This saw cuts incredibly smooth for how large the blade is. The table came true 90° out of the box. One of my best investments in tools for my business this far.

Strong, easy to handle, great base, good visibility, big improvement over Makita, lighter weight

This purchase was definitely worth every penny. Time saved while cutting big timber and no more rolling of 6×6’s. More accurate cuts, speeds up production. A win win!Maybe Skill will make a saw that will cut 8×8 timber?

I’ve been a Carpenter for over 40 years and have used many “Beam Saws” made by many manufacturers and this beast is a gentle, smooth cutting Giant. Never during my career have I used one that didn’t go rapid RPM on me and cause a twist, this saw is the real deal. More than met my expectations,

Used this to rip 60 6×6 untreated southern yellow pine cut to ~40″ lengths. Had to rip all four sides with one being a taper. Saw worked awesome. Changed the worm oil a couple times during the work and again at the end using Skillsaw worm oil. Video of it in action: https://youtu.be/AI-kbmDlF

This monster is a million times better than the makita that we’ve all been forced to use because there was really no alternative. The blade position and larger table make it so much easier to operate and make precise cuts. Combined with the dust expulsion, being 5 lbs. lighter, and saving $100, I see no reason why anybody would choose the antiquated relic from years past. Skil has done a great job with re-inventing the beam saw and the travel case is the icing on the cake! So happy I pulled the trigger and bought this game changer which I am certain will make me more productive, efficient and the envy of the entire job site,( probably get a raise as well!) It’s easy to zero out and adjustments if need be . Had it for not even a week and I’ve got other carpenters trying to rent it from me, sorry bro this is one tool I don’t lend to anyone except my mentor who I know will treat it with the same respect I give it! Well done Skil! And thank you!

Easily cuts through 4 1/2″ green pine for presawing benches, no bog or drag like others I have tried to use.

I havent had a chance to use it yet, ive used the makita beam saw before an i prefer the skilsaw design over makitas. I read many reviews an asked opinions an everyone leans toward skilsaw. Not to mention the price tag, if you are needing a 16” saw id recommend the sawsquatch.

This is now our primary 16” shop saw and I’d buy another one. Replaced our other saw (which is now the trailer saw). Pretty easy to get dialed square. But did not cut square out of box. That’s understandable I suppose. Love the clips on the holder, very easy to move around. Nice wide base, plenty powerful with a new blade, zero blade wobble and most importantly : it cuts square. I just wish skil would make a circ saw that could cut 7.5” because 8×8 is our standard post. they’re so close! Also I want to try the chain beam saw ASAP!

Bought this saw to build a large timber pergola. The saw works flawlessly for both rip and cross cuts. The weight is just right, light enough to easily carry but heavy enough to make it super stable. It’s a great saw.

If you need to ripe a six inch oak or fat pine beam this saw will do it!

So far I cut 22 4×8 beams and it was excellent and I still have a lot more to cut. Its meets my expectations.
