I bought my first 7 ¼ Skil wormdrive in 1984 when I started work as a framing carpenter. This is only the third Skilsaw I have purchased since. I still have the original, but over the years the base no longer holds a perfect square cut but I still use it for rough saw cuts. As long as you add the recommended lubricant, this saw will last forever.

I really like this saw — it’s a completely different experience versus the direct drive saws I’ve traditionally used. It is so much easier to cut a straight line. I like the steel bottom plate and the heavy duty feel. Some guys like very lightweight tools or batteries — I like something that’s going to last. Best saw I have ever used.

I would, and do, recommend the saw. Although I am not a professional laborer, as a weekend warrior of home projects, I do not anticipate having to replace this saw anytime soon. My buddy, a general contractor, recommend this saw to me. Based on his opinion of the saw, it is suitable for both the professional and the weekend warrior.
