I used a Porter Cable skill saw for about 30 years and due to no availability of a worn bearing which is causing blade wobble, I decided to purchase a new saw and went with a worm-drive saw. The Skilsaw was the lightest of the more pricey brands so I purchased the Skilsaw. It was a very good decision. The worm-drive does get a little heavy after using it for hours, but it cuts like a hot knife through butter. The 15 amp motor really gives it the power for heavy cutting. I highly recommend this saw to advanced DIYers and professionals.

Had a 5150 model sidewinder Skilsaw for many years. Did not really use it very much. New project came up to replace some exterior deck stair stringers and much more. I was not happy with old saw and went to YouTube. Found Scott Wadsworth on his “Essential Craftsman” channel. Learned a lot about the 77mag from him. Bought one and it was like night and day. Blade on the left is much better for acuracy. I am right handed. It is quieter than old one. More powerful and dead solid square. Love it. Cord could be a bit longer but orherwise perfect. I am a 62 year old do-it-your-selfer.
