For those interested in the country of manufacture, this unit is made in China and the Diablo blade in Italy. The unit comes with a charging base and two rather large batteries. Each battery is 4.25 lbs, and charged on first time use in less than 45 minutes.Inserting the Diablo blade can be tricky as the lock button is on the opposite side of the blade. Took a few tries but worked easily using the supplied wrench. The saw with one battery weighs 15 lbs, but seems well balanced so there was no strain after cutting 2x4s and 2x8s for an hour on one battery. The vacuum connection was tried successfully using a standard shop vac unit.If you are toting this combined unit to sites, the combined weight of saw, two batteries and the charger is about 22 lbs.Warranty is for 1 year.

Beautiful, I have a Milwaukee, DeWalt, Hilti; all 3 are 7 1/4 worm drive stile. no lie, all 3 are good saws but, non of them can be compare to the old school original worm drive.

Anyone who has done carpentry as a career is probably familiar with the Skilsaw brand and the fact that their worm drive saw is the gold standard of circular saws and now they make this great cordless version. Now you won’t have to drag a cord around while cutting lumber and sheet goods, especially nice when you’re walking walls or doing anything high up on a job. It has a hook so that you can hang it off of a rafter or most any 2 x piece of framing. It also has a dust collection port so that you can connect it to a shop vac. This is a very high quality tool with a history of reliability and good performance. It seems a bit heavier than the corded version but I’ll trade that for not needing to drag a cord everywhere.

This saw came with two large batteries and a battery charger. It is powerful and fast. With the battery attached it is also a little on the heavy side, but it is well balanced and so not difficult to handle. I am left-handed and the forward grip on the saw is angled in such a way that it is difficult to use the saw in a left-handed fashion as I normally would have. I expect that it is fine for right-handers. That same forward handle also serves as a sawdust ejection/exhaust, and is quite effective, even without a vacuum source attached. In fact when I tried to use the saw in a left-handed manner, it blew sawdust all over me. Bottom line: I am pretty much forced to use this saw as if I were right-handed, but that is life for us lefties. We’re used to that. This saw seems to be solidly constructed and it certainly cut through the 2″ x 6″ lumber that I was working with very quickly and smoothly, and the blade stops almost instantly upon release of the trigger. It is convenient that the saw has a secure place in the foot to keep the wrench for changing blades. The battery charger is fan cooled and charges the battery quickly.

I just used my new Skil brand battery worm gear drive circular saw. When I was younger I worked construction and all the professionals used worm gear drive Skil saws. Back then they were corded. Now you can get the legendary saw with a very powerful battery. This model comes with 2 batteries and a charger along with a diablo blade included. I am now just a home diy guy and do not expect to use the saw all day. So I do not know how long the battery will last. I used it for an hour and did not feel the battery go low at all. I read some reviews and people were saying 4 hours. I know to charge a dead battery is less than an hour. This saw is the best saw in my opinion you can buy. With the battery it is a bit heavier than a regular direct drive saw. Mostly the battery has a lot of weight, but I felt it had good balance and I could handle it no problem. I really like this saw and knowing it is a Skil brand I know it will last.

This is like the Cadillac of circular saws. In every way. I’ll get it out of the way this thing is bulky and I really hope they can get the battery size down a bit. The weight doesn’t bother me too much it doesn’t feel that different from the corded 77 saws but the physical size of the battery can be odd on some cuts. Other than the heft this is hands down the best cordless saw I’ve used. I have the 7 1/4 milwaukee fuel which is what I’ve used the last few years for a cordless option. How this saw runs and the power absolutely wipes the floor with the milwaukee. I was cutting 2×10 floor joists and 2×8 yellow pine rafters today in the rain and this saw did not bog down even once. I was totally impressed. The soft start is a nice touch and this saw just runs buttery smooth with loads of power and a super fast brake as well. I seriously questioned buying into anther battery platform but I’m glad I did.

The skilsaw cordless worm drive circular saw is a beast. The saw is a combo of magnesium and plastic. The guard on the blade doesn’t get caught at all when cutting, it smoothly retracts out of the way perfectly. The saw is very well balanced even with a big heavy battery. The saw is slightly heavier than the cored version but not much or bad at all. I haven’t seen how long the battery will last but useing it to do framing punch out list, one battery lasted all day

This saw is really something else with all the features that it has. It comes with two batteries and the charger. The initial charge on the batteries was about an hour each. Once you add the battery, it does get a little on the heavy side. The saw itself comes in at about 15.50 pounds and battery weighs 4.00 pounds so you’re looking at a total weight of approximately 15.50 pounds. It appears that this saw is self-oiling and needs to be checked after ten hours of run time – something to keep any eye on. The included dust catcher is a good feature to see where you’re going and I wish the saw had come with a case or bag to protect it. The auxiliary handle, to me, seems to be at an odd angle. I would prefer to have it straight across the saw or angled toward the front of the saw. The cutting depths and angles are very well marked and relatively easy to adjust. A really heavy duty piece of equipment – should last for a good long time.

The SKILSAW TRUEHVL 48-Volt Cordless 7-1/4 in. Worm Drive Saw Kit with 2 TRUEHVL Batteries and Diablo Blade arrived yesterday. After reading the operating instructions I used the charger to complete charging both enclosed batteries. Today I attached my shop vac to the Skilsaw and used it cut cedar lumber to build a flower planter box. The saw performed really well and had more than enough power to finish the job. It sure was nice using this cordless saw and not having to bother with extension cords. The Skilsaw definitely met my expectations.

Amazing saw don’t get me wrong. I just had bought the Milwaukee rear hand saw when this came out. After trying both saw’s skilsaw is a bit heavier, but more powerful. The only con is that the battery won’t last a full day. I’ve ripped rafters and cut plywood and at most it’ll give you half a day. The battery charge time is as advertised meaning it does charge in a hour. Hoping skilsaw can help with the purchase of a spare battery since they falsely claim and advertise it last a full day.But overall it is a good saw and made me sell my Milwaukee Rear hand saw.

So I got this saw in hopes of it being more powerful than the Makita and anything else I’ve sampled in the field and boy it delivers…it’s a great well balanced saw like claimed in other reviews but the bad thing is the dust and how they changed it with the handle. It is a horrible design for trying to cut 45 angles fascia for example. So I took my old set up meaning the blade guard and Handle set up like the previous corded model and switched it all over. Skilsaw kept everything on the body the same so it’s interchangeable if you look into it. I also put the smaller rafter hook on it like the corded model has. Now that I’ve switched everything over I couldn’t be happier with the performance. Next comes the battery….it’s a decent battery for the performance it’s giving. But if you have 2 batteries you should be good to go all day if you are working alone and not a cut man or ripping boards. It’s kinda common sense in a sort. Maybe use the old corded one for those massive rip jobs? I hope that helps people. Stay true 😉 (after my mods I give it 5 stars) only 3 out of the box due to the saw dust issue. Framers don’t use vacuums and neither do form setters. I didn’t know skil was getting into the finish world with the skilsaw. There’s festool and stuff like that with tracks vacuums attachments up the butt. Don’t even mess with a silly majority market. The pros get what’s appropriate for the job regardless

Years ago, when I was a newly-minted journeyman carpenter, all the old pros used corded worm-drive circular saws of various manufacture. The gold standard, though, was the SkilSaw – so much so that they were all called SkilSaws, no matter the brand. I’ve had the good fortune to own a number of other fine products from Skil, so when my 40-year old B&D sidewinder died I thought I’d give this new 48-Volt Cordless 7-1/4 Inch Worm Drive SkilSaw a try. After an afternoon of cutting, I have to say I’m glad I did. The cuts with the included blade from Diablo are smooth and true, with no blade wobble. The saw tracks beautifully and despite the weight, which is heavier than a corded saw, is easy to maneuver. The worm gear drive gives the saw fantastic torque for cutting hardwoods without binding up. The vac attachment is a nice feature for dust control in the shop and in operation works fine. The included batteries charge quickly (45-60 minutes) and with two included should keep most folks cutting all day without recharging. I have to say I love this saw and anticipate years of great service. Highly recommended!

Beast of a saw. the power is great. but all the competition uses polymer bodies for weight savings. this is the heaviest saw before you install the massive battery. also, you are used to a Mag77 and you pick this thing up, you won’t like the balance. starting a cut, there’s too much weight on the rear of the saw that you sacrifice some precision for carrying the saw. all other cordless “skilsaws” (worm drive style) are balanced like a Mag77. i hear the batteries last longer than anything else but haven’t tested mine yet. They currently don’t ship to California so i had to get mine through a 3rd party.
