I reach for this saw a lot. People are talking about the weight and size of the battery but I honestly don’t notice it because it’s so well balanced. I recently ripped 8/4 black walnut with it kind of as a joke to see what it could do and it did better than anything else I have including my 10 1/4. Comes with a good blade too. I highly recommend this saw. Don’t listen to the haters.

This saw is really something else with all the features that it has. It comes with two batteries and the charger. The initial charge on the batteries was about an hour each. Once you add the battery, it does get a little on the heavy side. The saw itself comes in at about 15.50 pounds and battery weighs 4.00 pounds so you’re looking at a total weight of approximately 15.50 pounds. It appears that this saw is self-oiling and needs to be checked after ten hours of run time – something to keep any eye on. The included dust catcher is a good feature to see where you’re going and I wish the saw had come with a case or bag to protect it. The auxiliary handle, to me, seems to be at an odd angle. I would prefer to have it straight across the saw or angled toward the front of the saw. The cutting depths and angles are very well marked and relatively easy to adjust. A really heavy duty piece of equipment – should last for a good long time.

The skilsaw cordless worm drive circular saw is a beast. The saw is a combo of magnesium and plastic. The guard on the blade doesn’t get caught at all when cutting, it smoothly retracts out of the way perfectly. The saw is very well balanced even with a big heavy battery. The saw is slightly heavier than the cored version but not much or bad at all. I haven’t seen how long the battery will last but useing it to do framing punch out list, one battery lasted all day

I love it. It’s stout, smooth and powerful. This is a well balanced saw and cuts like my corded 77. For normal, non-production use, the battery lasts me all day, just like they say. I’m glad I bought it.

I just used my new Skil brand battery worm gear drive circular saw. When I was younger I worked construction and all the professionals used worm gear drive Skil saws. Back then they were corded. Now you can get the legendary saw with a very powerful battery. This model comes with 2 batteries and a charger along with a diablo blade included. I am now just a home diy guy and do not expect to use the saw all day. So I do not know how long the battery will last. I used it for an hour and did not feel the battery go low at all. I read some reviews and people were saying 4 hours. I know to charge a dead battery is less than an hour. This saw is the best saw in my opinion you can buy. With the battery it is a bit heavier than a regular direct drive saw. Mostly the battery has a lot of weight, but I felt it had good balance and I could handle it no problem. I really like this saw and knowing it is a Skil brand I know it will last.

Years ago, when I was a newly-minted journeyman carpenter, all the old pros used corded worm-drive circular saws of various manufacture. The gold standard, though, was the SkilSaw – so much so that they were all called SkilSaws, no matter the brand. I’ve had the good fortune to own a number of other fine products from Skil, so when my 40-year old B&D sidewinder died I thought I’d give this new 48-Volt Cordless 7-1/4 Inch Worm Drive SkilSaw a try. After an afternoon of cutting, I have to say I’m glad I did. The cuts with the included blade from Diablo are smooth and true, with no blade wobble. The saw tracks beautifully and despite the weight, which is heavier than a corded saw, is easy to maneuver. The worm gear drive gives the saw fantastic torque for cutting hardwoods without binding up. The vac attachment is a nice feature for dust control in the shop and in operation works fine. The included batteries charge quickly (45-60 minutes) and with two included should keep most folks cutting all day without recharging. I have to say I love this saw and anticipate years of great service. Highly recommended!

I purchased this saw 3 weeks ago, and I absolutely love it . All the power and performance of the Mag77. I thought I would be using the mag for the rest of my career . That was before I picked this bad boy up .we still have the mags in the trailer but this is my new go to saw. I got it from toolbarn with charger and 2 batteries. Which was a deal I couldn’t pass on . The power is incredible !Feels a bit heavier than the mag but the battery balances it out perfectly. The battery placement puts the weight directly in your hand so it’s not cantilevered out several inches . It actually easier to place o the work pc than the mag . Definitely will be getting another one soon

I had the opportunity to use this saw recently and man it’s powerful. No matter what I did it could push through anything I threw at it. With that said, I don’t feel like you’re getting what you pay for here. There’s no way I could get through a day with this saw. Skil is a premium brand, but the price of batteries is outrageous and without a second or third, you’ll be sitting around waiting to charge batteries. Or you’ll just run an extension cord to get the job done like I did.

I just bought this saw as a Christmas gift for my father. I figured it would be a good time to get him to eventually go fully cordless with tools. ACME tools was having a promotion ($399.00 USD for the saw, diablo blade, charger, and batteries x2). He has now retired his model HD77 saw and passed it on to me.I cannot believe the kind of torque these gigantic batteries can deliver. No matter how hard I push, this cordless saw just eats up the wood as if corded. The build feels solid, but would have liked for the handle to be made of metal like the rest of the saw. The saw weight is well balanced w/ huge battery inserted.I did not give 5 stars because it’s only backed by a 1 yr. warranty. There’s no other tools I can use these battery packs with, and at $250/battery that’s steep. I can’t believe the cost of the actual tool and battery are about the same. I’ll give 4 stars if the saw holds up to the quality the brand is known for. 5 stars if they back with a better warranty, and expanded product line w/ the same batteries. The tool needs to be time tested.

Bought 2 of these and couldn’t be happier. Very well balanced and will blast through just about anything. Feeling guilty every time I reach past my m18 fuel saw to grab the truehvl.

Anyone who has done carpentry as a career is probably familiar with the Skilsaw brand and the fact that their worm drive saw is the gold standard of circular saws and now they make this great cordless version. Now you won’t have to drag a cord around while cutting lumber and sheet goods, especially nice when you’re walking walls or doing anything high up on a job. It has a hook so that you can hang it off of a rafter or most any 2 x piece of framing. It also has a dust collection port so that you can connect it to a shop vac. This is a very high quality tool with a history of reliability and good performance. It seems a bit heavier than the corded version but I’ll trade that for not needing to drag a cord everywhere.

I love this saw little heavy but it cuts awesome and the battery last

Had to rip several 2x8x12 treated (these were very heavy and still wet) boards this past weekend to finish a project. Started with a German battery powered track saw (you know which brand I’m talking about “Green” with systainer carrier) anyway this saw bogged down within inches of starting. Gave up with it (yes the batteries were charged) and got the cordless Worm drive by Skilsaw out and man this saw cut through the board like a hot knife in butter. It cut them as fast as I could push it through. Highly recommend this saw. Can’t wait until the bigger cordless brother comes out later this year. Thanks Skilsaw for the awesome saw!!

This saw came with two large batteries and a battery charger. It is powerful and fast. With the battery attached it is also a little on the heavy side, but it is well balanced and so not difficult to handle. I am left-handed and the forward grip on the saw is angled in such a way that it is difficult to use the saw in a left-handed fashion as I normally would have. I expect that it is fine for right-handers. That same forward handle also serves as a sawdust ejection/exhaust, and is quite effective, even without a vacuum source attached. In fact when I tried to use the saw in a left-handed manner, it blew sawdust all over me. Bottom line: I am pretty much forced to use this saw as if I were right-handed, but that is life for us lefties. We’re used to that. This saw seems to be solidly constructed and it certainly cut through the 2″ x 6″ lumber that I was working with very quickly and smoothly, and the blade stops almost instantly upon release of the trigger. It is convenient that the saw has a secure place in the foot to keep the wrench for changing blades. The battery charger is fan cooled and charges the battery quickly.
