The black Checkthrough Security Brief, Standard from Skooba appears on the outside to be a sophisticated business case, but is designed and tested to be “checkpoint-friendly,” allowing it to be run through airport x-ray screening without removing your computer.
The bag opens and hinges in the middle to separate and isolate the laptop compartment from the rest of the bag. For initial immediate visual reference, you can see your laptop through a clear, quick-recognition window that is exposed when the bag is unfolded. The design of the laptop compartment is such that the X-ray image presented to the screener is the same as if the laptop were removed and placed in a bin.
Your Checkthrough bag and all of its contents can be carried securely with or without the hinge zipped shut — this allows you to ready it in line before going through screening. Once through you can pick up the bag and go, zipping it back up on the move or at the gate. The bag is designed to hold most popular 15 or 16 inch laptops and will even hold some 17 inch laptops.
Inside, there’s a folder/file section with movable/removable divider, quick-access front pocket for travel documents. The bag features more than 20 pockets, compartments and organizers in total, including nine fully padded p[ockets for portable electronics, dedicated thumb drive slot, key clip, easy-access Doc-pocket for boarding pass and passport, and more.
A patented Superbungee strap is included which consists of shock absorbing coil, non-slip cushioned cells and wide, contoured surface area provide the most comfortable carry imaginable. Meanwhile, massively reinforced stress points include double-tacked hand grips and box-X stitched and riveted shoulder strap anchors. So in addition to its roomy size and travel readiness, the Checkthrough Security Brief is also a pleasure to carry.

Most photographers have so many bags that just one won’t do. However this laptop bag is ideal to compliment my Photography. In keeping my photography backpack as light as possible I don’t like to carry a laptop with me into the field, (15.6 rMBP) laptop no, (9.6 iPad pro) a tablet yes. I’ll leave the laptop in the hotel. Now to this bag. During travel, it allows me to carry my 15.6 rMBP in the separate chamber for it. In fact I have the rMBP in a separate booq taipan, which fits perfect in the laptop compartment. The middle section, is about 2.25 wide allowing me to carry accessories in a snap box, separate hard drives. It has a divider which I removed. It is warped and not of much use. The other pocket allows me to keep passport boarding passes etc… Whats nice is the dual strap handle. Most bags, to get into it you may have to open the dual strap handle. This one you don’t. The only time you have to open the handle is to open the bag flat for the TSA. Otherwise, you never have to undo the handle to access the compartments. Nice.

Bought this bag to replace a Tumi Tech messanger bag. TSA approved laptop compartment was main reason for buying this and on a couple of recent trips it has worked out great. The bag has enough room for all my stuff though some of the pockets are a little small. Quality of the bag seems good. The price from B&H was significantly cheaper than for other retailers. It arrived promptly after I ordered it. Overall, pretty satisfied.

I’m a business traveler who’s always looking to save a bit of time in yet another line so this is a great product for me. As designed, the computer portion of the case is ONLY large enough for the computer so you’ll need to find another area of the case to stash your power cord. I’m still trying to figure that out. There are lots of little ‘sleeve’ type pockets in the main compartment and outside zipper but none are really large so not sure how I’ll ultimately use them. Over all it’s a great case, I do wish the outer most velcro pocket was zippered.

LOVE THESE BAGS BUT WAS 1 INCH TOO SMALL FOR MY LAPTOP, I CAN’T USE IT. HAD TO USE OLD LAPTOP BAG AND GIVE THIS TO SOMEONE ELSE TO PUT THEIRS.
