they strip wires alright. i needed to strip some 18 awg stranded wires to solder some connections on a small blower fan. they strip cleanly without tearing out or cutting any strands. i even used them to cut some copper 5 wire thermostat line.things i like include that it is made of stainless steel and the grips are very comfortable.things i dont like include misleading claims on the packaging about being 5x more durable than carbon steel according to ASTM b117-11, which is a superceded corrosion test which has nothing to do with durability. superceded means outdated and durable means things like wear resistance not whether or not some rust will form. if your tools are rusting you arent caring for them correctly. also the cutting edges show the start of some shiny spots after cutting that 18-5 thermostat wire and usually those shiny spots turn into flat dull spots. so long term i expect these to be decent wire strippers but i dont think the cutting edges will last.

Got this a week ago. Did a few light fixtures with them like the compact designs. And easy to strip wires and took them for grounds. Only problem is the spring came off a few times on me.. if they could figure out a better way to keep spring on it would be better..

These strippers are just right if your a low voltage guy. I am a Fire Alarm inspector and I land all terminations on my fire panels and there’s no fighting to strip those small wires with these strippers. I would suggest all low voltage electricians have a pair.

I received my wire strippers a few weeks ago and on the first day I had to use them. I had to replace a 25/20 com cable, and the very next day I had to replace a 18/25 com cable. The wire strippers fit comfortably in my hand and the spring action allowed me to use them one handed. It stripped the small Gage wire easily, even cutting through the stubborn inner polyester wrap, which most other strippers I owned would never do. I’m very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others.

I like the idea of the stainless steel. Standard steel ones get rusted stiff when wet. You have to keep after them and if you forget then they stiffen up. For the longevity of the cutting and striping blades should be improve greatly also.

Handle is really good. Like the shap of it. The only concern that I have is that once your hand gets wet the handle becomes a little slippery.

I needed strippers for PLC wiring, and these delivered on all fronts. Very sharp, easily cuts through cable covers, and strips small wire easily.

No more stripping ballast wires with the cutting jaws! I was a little skeptical when I first saw these strippers. I’ve never owned a pair of small gauge strippers that didn’t “ring” the copper creating a breaking point when the wire nut was twisted on. These work absolutely perfectly, every single time. I’m a huge fan. There are more and more Southwire tools making their way into my everyday service bag. Way to go guys! A godsend for ballast and control cabinets.

Recently received these strippers that range from 16-26 AWG. They work great on twisted pair 16 AWG stranded for pcl work or Cat 5 and 6. They feel good in my hand to use but I will admit the handles felt like they could be a little bit longer if you have large hands like I do but despite that I was able to use them comfortable in short order.

I really like these compact wire strippers and wish I had bought these a long time ago. The cutters are very sharp and make cutting fine/high gauge wire a breeze. The handles are comfortable and there are all the gauges needed for low voltage electrical work. Stripping wire, whether braided or solid is simple, just clamp the wire in the proper slot and pull. It really is effortless. The tool is compact and easily fit in a pocket or tool belt. This really is a high quality, precision tool. I absolutely recommend.

Southwire tools are great tools but these compact stranded wire strippers are amazing! They are easy to use and really easy to get into tight spaces. My husband used them at work while building a stereo kit for the saunas they build. Its a great tool and I definitely recommend buying it.

Southwire Compact Standard Wire StripperStrips wire from 16 to 26 AWG stranded wires and with Stainless steel cutting blade they will last a long time, and have a five year warranty. I finally found something that works with my hobbies like stripping the wires for my model train layout etc. Very nice grips and comes with a lock to keep them closed. They Work

I have several other wire stripper, they worked fine for my daily need. This Compact stranded wire stripper also met my expectation. It worked fine and cut sharp and precisely. The design is good, I had a good grip when using it and that supported a nice and clean cut. I would recommend this product to my friends.

This particular Southwire Electric Wire Stripper handles solid or stranded/twisted electric wire from 16 gauge to 26 gauge. I also have a Southwire stripper that covers wire from 10 gauge to 18 gauge, again for solid or twisted electric wire. The handles are well-insulated and comfortable. The cut-off insulation is held by the jaws after being cut.

I’ve been needing a pair of strippers for small gauge wire for some time now. I love the stainless steel construction, as my tools see many different environments and corrosion from moisture can be a problem. The tool feels a little small in my hands but that’s just me being used to larger hand tools. Overall good pair of wire strippers.

Ran some 18awg and these were awesome would have gotten 5 starts but I didn’t like the locking feature if it was in the middle and not on the side it would be 5/5
