I‘m a homeowner/faux handyman these are by far the best wire strippers I have ever owned. I haven’t had a project to use these on yet but I was testing them out on loose ends. They feel comfortable in my hand. They are sharp and make clean cuts. The crimper portion is a nice added feature. It also has what is described as a feature to cut/re-thread damaged screws and bolts, I haven’t played with this yet but this tool does consolidate several tools all in one. A huge leap for me. Overall, I am very happy with this Multi-Purpose Stripper, if it only did stripping, I’d be happy but jewel does so much more. If you are reading this review and you are shopping for a good, easy to use multifunctional wire stripper/crimper/retreader/cutter this one is my suggestion. Without hesitation I say it exceeds all my needs and expectations. (too bad it can’t make my coffee too)

I’ve had several multi-purpose strippers over the years. For some reason I keep losing them, so I have to keep getting a new pair. For that reason, I don’t want to invest too much in a pair that I’ll end up having to replace. This Southwire 6-in-1 wire stripper fits the bill. It has *almost* all the functions I need for routine electrical work. Despite what is stated in the product description, it does not have a serrated nose for grasping and pulling, which is something I have to do quite a lot. ·The tool is made from a magnetic stainless-steel alloy and has kind of a matte finish, but not exactly. The tool has laser etched markings on both sides, which is convenient. The rubber grips are comfortable to hold while squeezing the handles. ·The tool has worked well for me while cutting and stripping solid copper wiring (mostly 14 gauge). There are two eyelets at the nose that can be used to bend and fold wires, but I miss having a serrated nose to bend and loop wires to connect to screw terminals. ·Made in China.

A great hand tool! So much better than my old set of “professional” 6-in-1 wire strippers. The problem I typically have with strippers is working with thinner wire gauge (18 ga. and thinner). The strippers either can’t fully cut the sheath or they cut too deep and cut into the wire. The other issue I encounter is the end cutters can’t cut the small gauge stuff.None of this is an issue with the Southwire stripper. The Southwire perfectly cut and stripped my thin 21 gauge bell wire. Now to test the terminal crimp; most crimpers simply mash the terminal barrel; the Southwire actually indents the wire terminal barrel on non-insulated terminal. This makes a good, secure connection to the wire.I like the stainless steel construction with stamped in markings. The insulated handles are very well made and comfortable even with squeeze pressure.I did not try the screw/bolt cutting part of the 6-in-1, but I don’t believe that will be an issue with this tool.Very pleased with this tool; it does as good or better job than just a stripper or crimp dedicated tool!

I LOVE this tool! These wire strippers even rethread screws! The grip is very comfortable and they strip quickly and efficiently. They also cut bolts, cut and crimp. Very easy to handle and fit comfortable in your grip. Well made with good weight to them. These Southwire strippers are good quality at a great price. They even have a 5 year warranty. Everything is clearly marked in the exact spot you need it to be. Sharp and precise. Well thought out design. Awesome multi-tool. Highly Recommend!

This Southwire stripper is an excellent replacement for my worn out stripper. To start with the tool is made of stainless steel for durability and it should never rust. The stripper jaws are sharp and strip insulation cleanly without cutting wire strands. The nose crimpers work for several types of electrical connectors (bare, insulated etc.) The handles fit your hand well. This tool will even shear and rethread small screws. This tool had me at performing clean strips and good sounds crimps. And it’s priced reasonably.

The Southwire 6-in-1 Multi-Purpose Stripper is an excellent tool and a “must have” for the handyman or professional electrician. I have owned several wire stripper/cutter multi-tools in my life and this one is the best so far. It is made of strong stainless steel with soft padded grips. The tool is easy to manipulate in my hand and operates easily. The cutting blades and stripper are sharp and durable. I used this stripper installing an outdoor plug and light and it made the job much easier.

I began working with electronics as a teenage amateur radio operator, moving on for a lifetime as an engineer and scientist, and doing my wire and cable crimping, stripping and splicing with a jack knife and pliers! How I wish I could have had a Southwire Multi Tool stripper to do this. This is not a tool you will find in your telephone or cable guy’s holster, it is more for the do it yourselfer who doesn’t want to own each of the specialized professional tools to needed perform these functions. The tool is a fine cutter and stripper of wires and does fine as an aid for crimping and splicing. Also a nice feature to have around is the ability to distinguish and clean threads for the standard 4-40 to 10-24 screw sizes. I found the ability to cut screws to work well for these screw sizes. You need to be careful where you leave the remaining threaded part of the cut screw as you do have to remove itl. The tool is nice to use as support for bending and soldering a splice and it seems to be sturdy and should last a long time. It is somewhat cumbersome and I would recommend this tool for do it yourselfers only and therefore give it three stars. For the DIY folk, 5 stars.

This is a very good homeowner’s tool for doing a group of common electrical tasks around the house. Besides easily stripping wire leads, it’s also great at shortening screws, crimping leads to terminals, looping wire leads and cutting wire. It does all this flawlessly. These are the kinds of tasks performed when installing light switches or hanging light fixtures and ceiling fans, for instance. It’s a great tool to have handy in your home tool box.

I recently ordered and received the Southwire 6-in-1 multipurpose wire stripper. This is a quality stainless steel tool which serves its purpose during most wiring jobs you may encounter. I recently used this tool during the install of a new mini-split AC system. This required “skinning” and cutting 12/2 wire for a new electrical feed to the unit we installed as well as prepping much smaller gage harness wiring to attach from the air handler to the compressor. The Southwire multipurpose wire stripper worked perfectly. I personally think this is a high-quality tool (comes with a 5 year warranty) that I will have for many years to come. I have included a few pictures of the tool so you may see what it looks like.

The slim design and lightweight are convenient for storage or transport. That could make these a good budget choice for a traveling musician, or anyone else who needs a lightweight compact tool for fast field-repairs. The handles feel and look good when new. These padded grips allow us to use them comfortably without gloves. The only problem with injection molded urethane handles is they degrade quickly, especially if your working environment has harsh chemicals or solvents. These cut and strip light-gauge wire effectively. So they will work well for my light-duty speaker-building and repair hobby. The crimpers are OK because the handles are long enough to provide mechanical advantage. One close-up photo shows how the markings are hard to see, even in my well-lit shop. I think these are just fine for light-duty jobs like wiring speakers and guitars or other low-voltage projects. So I can cautiously recommend them for hobbyists, homeowners or occasional users. But because of the crimped metal construction, they would not last long in daily professional use.
