I got confused by the product name and its real brand. The product page says this is a southwire branch diagonal cutting pliers, but when I got it I saw “woods” printed on the handle. Maybe there is some branch merging business going there but did not get a chance to update the product page? But anyway, on a first look, it feels solid, and I am sure it would last for a while under my regular usage in the house. I am little concerned about the quality here. I do not think the cutting part was manufactured very well. I have uploaded a picture to show that there is a significant gap between the two cutting blades. It lacks precision here. I would not recommend buying it if you care about precision and quality.

The SOUTHWIRE 7 IN. DIAGONAL CUTTING PLIERS are light weight and very easy to use. While holding a wire in one hand I was able to easily open the pliers with my other hand and then cut the wire. I tried using this on different size wires and was able to snip all the wires easily. The rubber grip on the handle makes it slip proof even when my hands were sweaty. This is a must for your tool bag!

These cutters have a good grip coating on the handles and the color made them easy to find in my tool bag. I was able to cut an 8d nail very easily and the angle of the cutters would make it easy to cut off something almost flush to the surface. These will also easily grab a wire staple that you need to pull out. I was able to cleanly cut through a piece of 12-2 AWG (all three wires) in one snip.

Who couldn’t use a good pair of cutting pliers? I found Woods diagonal cutting pliers to cut easily and they are comfortable to use. The quality is average, the weight is good and they are about what you would expect for the price. I used them to cut heavy duty floral wire and to wire an outlet. They made a good cut each time. They open approx. 3/4″ to handle both little jobs and big jobs. They are a good addition to your tool chest.

I like these “Woods” cutters, I use them mostly to cut wire for the backs of picture frames. I work in a frame shop and they preform this task flawlessly all day long! I have also done some wiring recently with AV equipment and they cut through copper wire like butter. They seem to be heavy duty and don’t have any play when I open and close them which is nice! But don’t expect to cut paper with these things, and that is my only complaint, I took a picture of the wire cutters in front of a light and you can clearly see the wedge-shaped gap between them even when squeezing tightly.Over all though I would still recommend these if you don’t need extreme precision or to cut hair-thin wire or fibers.

These seem to be sturdy, and well made cutting pliers. They easily cut through 6 AWG stranded copper wire with no problem at all. They feel good in the hand, and move smoothly. As most tools are, these were coated with oil to prevent rust before sale. The printing on the handle comes off easily; this does not matter to me, but I guess it could to some.

These diagonal wire cutters provide a comfortable and productive experience. They have a very smooth operation when cutting. They seem to have good strength and durable design. I really like the dipped grips and they have a comfortable fit. Easily cut through copper and medium to hard steel wire. I used these to cut solid and multi-strand wire and steel paperclips with no damage or dulling. There were 2 small chips in the cutters, but no issues with cutting… Overall a good quality tool for the cost.

These are your average big box store quality pliers, nothing spectacular but for a fair price you can’t really expect more. The fit and finish is average, arrived with some oils on the metals to keep them from rusting which will need to be wiped off if you don’t want it to get on things. These cut just fine but I wouldn’t use them on anything that requires a bit more leverage, these are great for a quick cut of thin wire or plastic wire ties. I do appreciate the grippier rubber coating on the handles, the slick kind wipe off easier but also get slick over time and make it harder to work with around more grease heavy projects like automotive projects.
