They’re a decent made tool, with clear quality put into them. I like the built in reamer on the outsides of the top of the linesman’s but I do wish that it had a crimper installed. If that was included they would be perfect! Nevertheless it’s a quality tool that I will see in my tool pouch for years to come.

Got these pliers a few months ago and have used them on almost every job since. These pliers are heavy enough to make dealing with solid wire easy and they move freely enough that using them doesn’t add any strain to the job.

Got these a month ago looking for a change because I replace this tool myself 2 maybe 3 times over the course of a year with the same brand/type. And that other brand is known for being expensive and when these are $20 cheaper I felt at that time it was a good idea. And wow was I…………….RIGHT! These are truly great pliers. Right fresh out of the package these had the perfect fit and finish. The pivot point was perfect which is one of the most important things because if it is too tight it causes the pliers to lock up and makes each splice, cut, etc etc take signifgantly longer. The clearance on where the 2 cutting edges meet is also perfect thus eliminating the need to double squeeze to make a single & simple cut. Overall weight and head size is adequate because even though we are advised not to do so, we use our pliers as hammers on a daily basis. The hand grips are nice and provide good traction even when wet. Only time will tell how these pliers will hold up. At this moment in time of ownership so far, I am thouroughly happy and impressed. It was worth the risk of trying another brand where in not only am I saving money, but theres a chance I may have ended up with a better product after all is said and done.

Great heavy duty pliers. Feels great in your hand however they are a little heavy but are very strong, they will last a long time. Because the pliers are built tough it males it easy to cut copper wire and even steel wire with the hi-leverage side cuts. The pliers are also great for twisting wire together and they are great for pulling wire and you can even deburr the inside of conduit with the end of the pliers. This is a very good product.

Pros: great wire cutter and linemansCons: the handles are kind of bulky, and the jaws didn’t close all the way

I got these and have used them on several times. They cut many different type wire and the flat nose make them great for pulling and pushing. the sides have reamer that work great on metal and plastic tubes.

It is an insane grippy rubberized material, i use these everyday and I’m so happy i have them now. Nonthing matches up to these, they twist, cut, crimp, with ease.

I used and abused these pliers around the shop for the last month, and they’ve held up to every challenge without a single issue. Cutting wire and cable is a breeze, and it even cut off screws and nails without getting damaged. We’ve been running a lot of conduit and tubing lately, and the reamer design of the head was a lifesaver. Quickly cleaned up rough edges without feeling awkward. This is definitely going to be a tool that is always on me from this point.

Having worked in the electrical field, I have a bit of experience with pliers like these. I own several sets by other manufacturers and use them all. One of them had decent cutters, but the plier jaw wouldn’t come close to closing and had trouble holding a 14 ga wire. Not these! These cutters close completely and the jaws will still hold a #18 thermostat wire, even though that is usually a job for needle nose pliers. I was impressed how easily these 9″ pliers will cut #10 UF cable. And while they are supposed to cut steel core wire, I’ll let someone else try that. I’ve never treated my cutters that way! The grips are well formed and fit my hand well. I believe you could use them a long time without discomfort. There is a nice radius around the jaw that forms a perfect eye on the wire, just right for getting it under a screw. Another nice feature is the ability to ream a conduit with the nose of the pliers. A serrated portion of the nose makes this work easy. The fit and finish of this tool is indicative of a quality item. All in all, this is a fine set of pliers for the electrician’s toolbox.

These lineman’s pliers are the best. The cutting blades are very sharp and very durable they can alternate between cutting copper and cutting screws, 6-32 and 8-32 are all I tested, without any noticeable nicks or gouges in the cutting edges.

It was time for new pliers and I have been pleased with my other Southwire Tools that I have been acquiring and so, choosing these Southwire 9″ Hi-Leverage Pliers was an easy decision. I had some lights to install on Fence Posts and these pliers made the job easy to do. Cutting wire to length and shortening a few screws was an easy task with these pliers especially with the comfortable grip! The pliers are designed with leverage in mind making screw or nail cutting an easy task. I’ve been using these pliers multiple times a week and I’m really happy to have them as part of my tools! I’d recommend these pliers to everyone.
