I’ve got my fair share of wire strippers in various sizes and styles, each have their own benefits. These are very small and light weight, very cushioned and comfortable to use. The sizes are very common among household and automotive wiring. The spring action is smooth, and however the little locking lever is a pain to get to stay locked have to press it firmly in after the little notch and hope it doesn’t knock loose that would be the main critique, as well as the metal is likely to rust over time but thats common with these.

Another quality cutting/stripping tool from Southwire. These strippers have everything you need in one compact, ergonomic tool – cut, strip, bend. The cutters are super sharp. Looking at the tool, I though snipping through 14 gauge romex would be a chore, but no. Stripper is accurate and easy. The handle is nicely padded but still gives you good feel for the job. I like that the size markings are stamped in the tool on the back side so they’ll never wear off and printed in the other so they are easy to see when the tool is still new. Shears 6×32 and 8×32 bolts. I highly recommend.

I had two or three older wire strippers – some better than others. I picked this one up though just before a panel change. It was good timing. Firstly, made in the USA. Next, like most strippers, the front face has the wire gauges labeled from 18 to 10 SOLID and 20 to 12 STRANDED next to the divots for stripping insulation. And of course, it has a place to cut 6-32 and 8-32 bolts. Lastly it has a large wire cut blade and a grooved tip for precise bends. However, unlike most brands, on the backside, the gauges are stamped into the metal. This is great because with lots of use, the printed labels fade. It’s nice to have a permanent “label”. The strippers are comfortable, have a lock to keep them closed since there is a spring that pops them open, and the stripping action was very good.

I just spent the last week working on my latest Harry-Homeowner project installing a home security system. I used my new Southwire Ergo Wire Stripper 10 AWG – 18 AWG for the smaller alarm panel and keypad control wiring. I used my new Southwire Ergo Wire Stripper 6 AWG – 12 AWG for the heavier wiring for the power supply junction box and the grounding wire. These wire strippers made the job much faster and easier.

This is so much better to use if you have working hands that get tired easily when doing a lot of wire cutting. I like that one of the handles is a bit more round than the other one. Makes it easier to cut. The sharpens of the cutter is sharp and cuts clean. It’s very nice cutters too. I like the variety of different sizes to cut which is good to know which is which.

These wire strippers felt comfortable in my hands immediately. It’s cool they are made in America as the packaging says and the quality is really nice. I often end up in small spaces and awkward positions when working on electrical, these strippers make cuts and strips a breeze without slamming my knuckles when the wire casing finally detaches. I’ve definitely upgraded my toolbox with this addition.

True to their name these ergo handles are very comfortable to use. The wire gauge markings are engraved on both sides and show the settings for solid or stranded wire. I used the wrong setting on purpose and cut a few strands of stranded wire and then used the proper setting and it worked perfectly. I cut a 6-32 screw easily and threaded it in and out easily. There were no nicks or damage to the cutting blade at all after stripping several wires. I am very happy with this wire stripper.

These wire strippers from Southwire are awesome. They strip solid wire from 10AWG to 18AWG and stranded wire from 12 to 20. They are clearly marked on both sides of the strippers. You can even cut 6-32 and 8-32 screws down to whatever size you need them to be. A must have for any handyman or anyone that does any kind of electrical work on the side.

So i always use wire strippers for my job and these are some of the best i ever had. They are nice and sharp and cut through the insulation well. Also cutting through wire is really easy and with the handle design i get more leverage and my hand doesnt hurt as quick as it does with standard strippers. Also they are spring loaded which is a must in my mind so you can use these things one handed. This is a great product and i love that they are made in the USA.

I’ve been using these daily for about a month now. Keeping these in my diagnostics bag is a must, they cut back nice and clean. The handles are comfortable and light enough to work with easily. I would definitely recommend them over competitors. South wire quality.
