Southwire’s SNM1214HH-US ROMEX BOXJaw Wire Stripper, Dual Wire Cutter Strips both 12/2 and 14/2 Romex NMB JACKETS and 12 and 14 AWG Solid Wire. The wire stripper is proudly made and has a patent pending design. It strips both 12/2 and 14/2 Romex NMB jackets. This stripper features a large curved cutting blade as well as 12-14 SOL AWG single conductor stripping holes. The handles are double dipped and spring loaded for maximum comfort and torque.

I find this box jaw wire stripper to be a lot easier to use than a traditional wire stripper. I would much rather pull the tool straight back from the box end rather than to the side like a regular stripper. I also like the more rounded handle in comparison to the flat metal ones on a regular wire stripper, which is easier on your hand and better to grasp on to. Overall I find this to be a great tool and I can’t find a thing I don’t like about it.

From time to time, it is necessary to strip cable inside a box and this is the perfect tool for it. It cuts and strips easily without fail. Compact design makes it easy to get into tight spaces. A longer nose would be helpful for getting into deeper boxes, however.

I’ve been using the romex box jaw stripper since I received it from the tool box sampling program. I like the idea and I see the need for this tool, but with having the 12-2 stripper on one side and the 14-2 stripper on the other side of the head, it is very awkward to use inside of a box like it is intended for, especially in single gang boxes. I like the idea of it, I just think it needs to be scaled down somewhat and maybe that means having to have separate tools for each size of wire.

Idea is there, but a little difficult to get to the back of a box when stripping wire. It’s almost like the head of the tool needs to be curved to get that little extra bit of wire insulation. Otherwise it’s a good tool and does what it is intended for.
