Iv had this for little over a year now and love it. Over all it is a great plane . Take the time to round the corners a little sharpen and you have a very good plane to work with . I definitely recommend it

I am new on using a hand planer but with the little experience I have I was able to adjust the blade to the point that I was able to get paper thin shaves.

You get what you pay for with Stanley. I bought a contractor-grade #4 a couple of years ago and had to spend more than 10 hours lapping the sole to get it flat (enough). There’s still a problem with the right side. I also had to make a new tote to replace the plastic one that broke on the second use. This plane cost about $70 more, but came out of the box with the sharpest iron I’ve ever gotten, with flat and square sides. Perfectly flat and square. The plane is exactly as pictured. All adjustments are easy. I also got the #62, which is equally well-made. If you’re looking for a #4, get this one.

Nice heavy casting, quality mechanics, factory sharp is actually sharp. Cut 64th thick paper from the factory edge. Base is square and true. Handles are well made and have a nice fit. I’ve got 20 hrs or so on it and I’ve just recently put the iron on the Tormek and with a pass or two she’s back to razor sharp.

The only other plane that I have used that was ready out of the box was a Lie Nelson box plane. Normally I have to level the soul of the plane with sandpaper over a piece of glass, for more than an hour. Then sharpen the blade. This one was ready to go out of the box. I would normally prefer to get the Nelson but I will not use it as much as my box plane so I thought I would settle for this one. So far I do not feel that I settled.

Recently purchased to use as a a smoother. So far so good. I like the A2 iron. I had to flatten the sole a bit, it was concave around the toe and throat, but only took about 20 minutes. The sides are not square to the sole, but I won’t be using it on a shooting board, so not a big deal. The Norris style adjuster is a bit finicky and sloppy but I’m sure I will get used to it. Priced right

Looks good , needs a little tuneup.

This plane was better than I expected. A small amount to hone the blade and it performed very well. The sole was completely flat and the weight and size makes the plane easy to use.

I own many Stanley planes–this is far and away the best of the lot. It performed superbly right out of the box with no tuning.

You can’t go wrong with Stanley tools, this plane is no exception. Great quality and a great price

This is a solid, well made tool. All machined surfaces were flat and square. After honing the iron this plane produced marvelously thin and wispy shavings. Very satisfied.

Great plane. Needs sharpening but is ok out of the box

This a solid and well made plane. All machined surfaces were flat and square. After initial honing, the tool produced marvelously thin and wispy shavings. I own several of the newer Sweetheart series planes and am aware that the fit and finish can vary from model to model and even within the same model, but the one I recieved was darn near perfect out if the box.

Loved the additional reviews by previous purchasers. Could not afford a “high end” place and decided to give this a try. For the purchase price, am extremely pleased.

Very good quality and competitive price. Fits my hand really nice. I highly recommend this product. The service at Home Depot was very professional. The item arrived at the store one day earlier than promised and I’m very satisfied with everything from start to finish.

Very good quality for the price. Fit and finish is not as good as a Woodriver or lie Nielsen obviously, but still excellent handane, way above low end planes. Wood definitely recommend.
