The FatMax Straight Cut Compound Action Aviation Snips can cut rolled steel up to 18-gauge or 23-gauge stainless steel. It’s very difficult to cut steel mesh to cover gutters with. I ordered a pair of aviation grade Stanley FatMax Straight Cutters. They easily cut through the mesh and I had my gutter spouts covered in less than an hour.

Contrary to the description, these snips will actually cut left, right and straight (you can see the three directions on the snips in the enlarged picture). There’s no need for three kinds of snips in your tool box anymore!I recently bought these to install a cold-air return and they did the trick. They cut very well, and are the most comfortable snips I’ve ever used. They’ll cut through some plastics as well as thick ducting, making them very versatile.Stanley’s done it again!
