I bought it to help plane down the back of oak transitions. I used a regular 6 inch plane first but this would leave the back slightly uneven. I used the Surform Flat Mill File to even the planed section out. Work great even though the oak is very hard and it required a lot of pressure to scrape the uneven parts to a level condition.

This tool was recommended by a Home Depot tool specialist.I bought this to shave a little material off of an old bathroom door that was painted several times and higher humidity had caused it to get stuck when closed. Just a few passes in the right spot fixed it. It left a smooth and straight finish unlike the old blade type planers of yesterday.
