This is the sharpest blade for plaster finishing and leather-hard clay if you want a good sculpting tool . I use the long flat and the half round and the short flat . It was designed for wood I think and fits any handle. It is used every time a mold is made at Schaefer Art Bronze Foundry in Arlington Texas. There is no substitute for this blade. It lasts sharp for a long time. Be sure to also get a file cleaning wire brush and dry it when you clean up so it will stay sharp. All the edges were cleaned on these plaster mother-molds with a Stanley Surform blade before they were drilled and separated from the urethane rubber on this giant head.

This is a very good tool. I knew what to expect but I wanted a fresh blade for a special purpose. It’s hard to go wrong with a trusted name like Stanley.

Surform tools have always been handy for all types of surfaces, especially man-made boards and panels. I always have this Surform equivalent of a block plane in my tool bag for little jobs, and replacement blades are a must, since I have never figured out a way to sharpen them.

It was the right replacement. Now able to use again. Would have been nice to be able to see before bought. I like to see things before I buy. Not a big fan of buying online.

We use several different sizes SurForm blades in a ceramic mfg. shop. they are great for cleaning up cast pieces before the glazing process, they make short work out of a tedious job, also good with wood.

Mostly happy with the purchase. Although I wasn’t using the replacement blades for their intended purpose, I noticed a lot of variance between the different blades. Some had highly raised and sharp cutting edges and others were much reduced, which I’m sure would affect the efficiency.Like I said, I am not using these replacement blades for rasping. However when I do use the rasp for woodworking, etc. it is great. I have the long version, the short one and the rounded file type as well.
