I’ve been using this particular model for a few years now. Its my favorite size to bring to the hardware store. Fits nicely in your pocket and it is very durable.

I picked up this tape measure as a small tape to have around the shop. It’s an Engineer’s scale, which can be useful if you need to scale in tenths, but also includes the standard sixteenths and fractional markings. It is not marked in feet, just inches, and is also not marked with stud cues, which is nice. The first six inches of the tape include 32nds and 50ths of an inch, after which it goes to standard 16ths and tenths. The case itself is an even two inches deep at the tape, making inside measurement a snap. I knew that if the new Powerlock tapes were built the same as the old ones, the locking mechanism would be reliable, which it is. All in all, a tape worth owning.

Received for product review. The markings are easy to read, but the 1/50th marks are a little hard for these old eyes. The fractional marks are a good teaching point for kids learning fractions. My third grade grandson is better able to understand fractions from this.

At first glance the tape measure brought back memories of watching my grandfather measure wood in his shop with his Stanley tape measure. I was skeptical about the engineers scale notating in tenths of an inch instead of what most people are used to with quarter inch notations. But after use on my first project with this tape measure I am hooked on the tenth of an inch scaling.

I got this to use in my wood shop as a light weight tape to have on my tool apron. I love that I can have it on me at all times without adding a lot of weight. I’ve found that I really like using the tenth increment side as it makes a lot of shop math easier.

The 12 ft. Stanley Powerlock is an excellent durable tape measure. Love that they stayed with the all netal case, and the fraction and decimal scales are easily read.

I want to start off by saying my wife LOVES this tape measure. She took it from me instantly and claimed it as her own. She loves how compact it is and loves that its great for all of her indoor projects like hanging pictures on the walls. The engineer scale was a little different and took some getting use to, but this is an excellent little tape measure that is going to last for many more years to come in our household. I would recommend this to everyone.

The engineers scale on this wound up being more useful than expected. Having the 10th’s of an inch worked well for use around some of my machines since they run in that number base. Saved a lot of conversion.

This is an engineering tape measure. I really wish I had one of these for my welding job where the engineering team had to write measurements in tenths of inches rather than fractions. Also its small and clips on perfect to my hard hat. I really enjoy this tape measure and wish I had it when I was measuring tenths of inches daily. It is only in tenths so if you need fractions, I belive there is a similar product in fractions. Great quality.

I have used this tape for 2 days building picnic tables and it’s not a bad tape but it does have a few problems like it needs to have a none slip areas where as I have dropped it several times since it is smaller in width then it is harder for us who are older with bifocals to read but the plus is that it’s sturdy, accurate and i did not get the dreaded tape won’t extend or retract after dropping it on the corners but over all it’s a good product

I have mainly used fatmax tape measures, but this is an amazing size for workshop/house use. It has divisions for 16ths and 10ths on the entire tape, and extra clarity of 32nds and 50ths on the first 6″. I’ve already used it for spacing picture frames, as well as marking lumber to cut in my shop. It’s light enough to clip to your belt and not notice it, but also sturdy with a solid metal frame. 12′ is also plenty for most operations in a shop setting.

I use quite a few different sized tape measures depending on what I am doing and where. In my home shop, this size tape is the most convenient to work with. ive had it about a month and it works well. The locking slider gets a bit wonky after a while however, I do not use that feature extensively in my particular application therefor, I do not consider it to be a detriment

Got tired of having to go out to the garage every time the wife wanted to know how big something is so now we keep this little guy in the drawer and it’s available when we need to measure something in the house. Standard power lock features in a handy compact tape

I’ve tried out this 12 foot tape and really like it. It has a metal case so it feels hefty even though it’s smaller than the carpenter tapes and less bulky for that matter. The scale reads without stud breaks. This is much more in keeping with the measurements that I make while conduction my woodworking projects. This includes breaking down rough sawn pieces ( I rarely cut up anything longer than 12 feet) and smaller parts that require accurate measurement. It is an excellent addition to my everyday tool apron carry!

I bought this as an introductory tape measure and can tell you this thing is durable. Ive dropped it on concrete and from an 8 foot ladder and this this still works. Much better than the plastic ones.

This is a great tape for around the shop. It’s small enough to slip right into a pocket and have at hand plus the metal case gives a solid feel in my hand. Around the shop or my house, I find a small tape to be very handy as I work and just the right size for most small jobs.I find that all of the Stanley tapes have blades that are thick enough to last for years and I have some that I’ve used for decades.

This is the perfect kind of tape measure to keep in your everything drawer or somewhere within quick reach. The 12′ length is perfect for measuring out furniture placement or verifying space before something is purchased, hanging artwork or other household tasks. It has a metal body and will withstand repeated drops without issue and is light enough for anyone to use without tiring easily. I would recommend removing the clip, it’s small enough to fit in a pocket and the clip is tight hard to hang if what you’re hanging it from it too loose or tight. The two biggest disadvantages are how lightweight the measure itself is. It needs to be light but that causes it to bend quickly if extended too far without support. Also the lock isn’t tight enough. It is easy to extend or compact when the lock is fully enguaged.
