If it is going to break and scratch up so easily I would go for the least expensive mallet.

regaurdless of maker, you need to buy a rubber mallet. i bought this thing to build a brick retaining wall, for a garden, haven’t built it yet. BUT i have used this thing to help up together my sons bed, and several other furtiure items. The rubber head is far easier on wood surfaces then a metal hammer. as a general rule i would say everone needs one of these in their tool kit. i had my friends try to steal this thing, so consider this a recommended item.

A mallet is a mallet, no need to think about getting something fancy. I got this and used on a few things, from putting together furniture, to doing some demo work on an old pantry. It works well and that’s all I would ask for. Decent brand, decent price (I think it was the cheapest available) – no brainer.

I love this hammer. Been putting it to the test installing pavers. Next up, interior flooring.
