This comprehensive 99-piece socket set from Stanley contains a mix of SAE and metric sizes to complete a variety of fastening tasks. The components are constructed with high-strength chrome vanadium to tackle high-torque applications and are treated with a black chrome finish to inhibit corrosion. Sizable laser-etched markings are carved into the side of each socket for easy readability and wear resistance. Each device has a custom-fit storage slot in the included hard-sided carrying case, making portability and accessibility a cinch.

I was in the market for a new socket and wrench set, and this set has everything you need for basic mechanics, the tools snap into the plastic sleeves and don’t fall out (note when it ships they’re not always snapped in place). The black chrome and the etched large print sizes make it easy to quickly locate the right size socket or wrench. Both SAE and Metric in all sizes, and the ratchets are built strong, no chance of over torque bust, and the locking button is a big plus.

They had a sort of greasy film, maybe normal for tools, but also several pieces had come lose during shipping and were actually worn. They looked used. I still like Home Depot, and these are probably great in good condition. But I took them back.

wrenches are standard budget fare, ratchets are not bad. I wanted a cheap set to put on the ground with me while I am on a creeper and dont want or need to get up for a better or special tool. Something easy to grab and put down in the work area to save time. For that it really isn’t bad, but the case is kinda wonky. I have a chrome older version of this set, I thought I lost it. Its case is really great. Im going to actually use the older set for this and throw this one in my truck. Its a shame the sockets just dont stay in place nearly as well and the latches are not as strong. But the ratchets are very smooth, the sockets fit great, and you can do a lot worse for more money. It would be a 10/10 with the older style case.

The quality of the sockets, ratchets and case are very good. I really like the clear size markings, but fear they may wear off prematurely: this laser “etching” appears to be just stenciled as there is no depth to it. When it wears off I’m screwed. Upon first use of two of the combination wrenches, the “black chrome” rubbed off where it contacted another part.

I received the kit that I ordered fairly quickly. Upon inspection of the kit I found that I am missing an 8mm 1/4 drive socket. There is an additional 7mm in it’s place. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I could purchase the same socket but there is no place to get the matching socket.
