Wide blade with automatic lock. Push to retract. Biggest question is how long will either the auto lock or blade itself last. Accuracy of measure is quite good. +/- about .030

It’s a great tape measure. Very strong and durable. Can extend out further than any other tape before collapsing. I’ve bought many tapes in my career, and by far, the FATMAX are the best

I have been using this 16 ‘ FATMAX auto-lock Tape measure for about 6 weeks now. I enjoy the lighter weight compared to my 25 ft. The numbers are easy to read and has sped up my project completion time. When you are working on smaller projects and don’t need the longer length tape measure,I reach for this 16 ‘ FATMAX auto-lock. I enjoy the auto lock feature, just pull it out and mark your spot and press the button to retrieve.Simple one handed use. The extra wide hook that is included has proven useful for hooking the edges on a couple projects.

Great tape measure. I love the long stand out. The auto lock feature works very well. It is a nice size. The only negative is the removable hook. I think there should be a way to store the extra hook on the tape it’s self or it will be lost. I found it hard to change it back and forth so I probably wouldn’t do it. Overall I think it is a very nice tape measure.

We are a sheet metal fabrication shop. We love the Stanley Fatmax 16′ for going out to measure jobs because it stays stiff and has a long reach. Other tapes collapse. Numbers are very visible. We have 1 Stanley Fatmax 25′ and 4 – 16′. However in the fab shop, the employees prefer the shorter Stanley more traditional tapes (powerlock). They don’t like to use the Fatmax in shop because it sticks out from your belt too far and gets caught on things too often.

Perfect for my woodshop where i regularly need ~6 feet of tape to hold sturdy. Will def get another couple of these in the future!

Love the auto lock feature. I would highly recommend this tape for anyone in the construction field or any other line of work were your tools get tremendous ware and tare.

This tape measure has the great Stanley characteristics I’ve come to expect- durable, blade rigidity/stand out, and size. I also love the extra large tab- makes it easy to reach over to the end of a board or across a room to make a measurement. Even though it’s removable, o probably won’t take it off. My only complaint is the auto lock. After all these years, I’ve gained the muscle memory to hold the tape measure out in place with one hand and the tab with the other. A quick release and the tape returns. I have to get used to pushing the (small) licking device to retract the tape. Not a deal breaker, but makes for an awkward break in period.

I like the tape but there is improvement to be made for this to be my EDC tape. This tape has a great stand-out without having a huge and bulky tape, 11 foot stand out, auto lock button is the best new function because you can turn it OFF or leave it on only when you need it. I like extra big hook for grabbing but I think it would be beter if it was not removable because there is no to little play in the tip you have push or pull the tip before you get your Measurements or you could be off. also the wings of the removable tip flex. this could also give a false measurement one last thing, the hook extends to top of the tape so without a measurement on the back side of the tape the hook not used to its true potential. I think if you make the hook perment and put a tape on both sides of the ribbon this would be the best EDC in my opinion.

Received this tape along with the 30-footer. It’s big and bulky and WAY heavier that my other 16′ – 25′ tapes. Don’t think I’ll be loading this one on my tool belt. Will probably keep it on my panel break down table.

I love this tape. I work in an HVAC metal shop, and tend to go through a lot of tapes. This has been durable, strong, maintains it’s wind-up power, and a great tape overall. I have always liked Fatmax tapes, and this one only makes me like them more. I like that it can switch from auto-lock to standard, by flipping the locking slide.

I was skeptical at first. I used to have a tape that had a button on the bottom as a brake and thought that that was the best it was gonna get. Boy was I wrong. This tape is very easy to use, if you know what’s happening. I let some friends borrow it, and they could not figure it out at all. It was amusing seeing them struggle with it. I like the way it fits in my hand, and some smaller handed colleagues agree. I really liked what the detachable foot brought to the table. Measuring walls and such has never been easier. My only problem with it is, the brake mechanism is a little weak, meaning after a couple of weeks heavy use, it started to retract on its own, very slowly, just barely noticeably.

I measure frameless glass for a living for shower enclosures. This tape has an exactly 3” body. This makes it easy math and precise measuring inside measurements (between two walls). They are built well and ergonomic.

This thing goes out at least 11’ before bending and the numbers are easy to read. It hooks easily on to edges and also releases with ease.

Best feature is that it will hold itself straight for up to 11 feet, no more tapes flexing. I also like the added top stop for the end of the tape to hold the tape in place for different situations

I have always been a fan of my fat max tapes because I can be tough on them without fail. The auto lock is a cool feature that gives an in between option of locked and unlocked. It works as a regular tape measure but in auto lock mode you can hit the quick release to draw it in a chunk at a time. Really helpful for one arm measures where I typically drop the tape trying to unlock with the same hand I hold with.

Great for tile. Ultra fast recoil and coated tape.

This tape actually locks and stays in place. It is comfortable in your hand. It has a nice feature (extra clip on the end of the tape) that allows you to measure from the top and the side of a board and allow for accurate marks. I also like the easy to read increments. On some tapes I have a hard time diferentiating from an 1/8″ and a 16″. The tape will also allow it to extend over 10′ without bending.

This tape measure aids me not only when working o our house but is excellent when I work on a variety of crafts. The fact that the semi-rigid extending tape means you always great an accurate measure in addition to that it is possible lock to it at any desired spot when you are doing several measurements on like pieces. The numerals are also easy to read.
