Been using this tape for roughly two weeks for interior work, such as tiling and installing kitchens, and could not be more pleased. Love the auto-lock for repetitive measurements and its weighs almost nothing. Not to mention, it has great standout and is really durable.

I received this tape a couple of weeks ago. I must say I’m very pleased with it. The auto lock feature it great and easy to use. It can also be used without the auto lock. My only complaint is it doesn’t have a magnet like some other brands but it’s definitely not a deal breaker.

This is the best tape measure that I have used in a very long time. I was I had a longer one. It stays straight and in place and locks in place with ease. This is an awesome tough tape measure! I must go get the longer one. Glides out fast and smooth and stays put. Has a neat grip tool at the end.

I find that I like having the supplementary hook on the tape for it allows me to “catch” something from the side as well as from the bottom. I also like the way the auto-lock works, I found myself not having to think about its use. A great tape. The one negative that I would add is that the tape comes in very fast which is good until it hits the hook. If that was done very often it would damage the tape. I found that if I let up on pushing the button it stops it and keeps the speed under control.

I have been using the Stanley FatMax auto lock 16ft tape measure for about a month framing and finishing houses. I really like the long standout and auto lock features on such a compact tape. The large, easy to read numbers and divisions simplify true measurements under the varying lighting conditions encountered during a build.

I received this about a month ago.Very nice , sturdy , rugged .The auto lock is nice you don’t have to worry about tape snapping back and catching your hand.I also picked the add on for the end of the tape that makes it wider .It’s easier to hold onto things you are measuring ,the end of the tape doesn’t slip off as much.

I have been using this tsape measure for around 2 weeks now and very happy with it.Somehow when I saw this I missed the little hook device that clips onto the, well hook. It is such a usefull feature. I like the tape locking mechanism design, it is very comfortable to use. Now it is a wide tool, it’s never going into a pocket but it fits into my admittedly large hands wonderfully.

Stanley FATMAX Auto-Lock 16′ FMHT33316The Stanley FATMAX Auto-Lock 16′ rule is a very impressive tape measure. It completely fills the palm of my hand, has a full 1-1/4″ wide tape, measures approximately 3″ long X 2-1/2″ high X 1-1/2″ thick/wide, and is no lightweight. The outer shell of this tape measure is constructed of solid smooth yellow plastic along with a slightly softer “grippy” black plastic which provides a lot of friction in the hand. Overall, this 16′ FATMAX is built for abuse and I wouldn’t be surprised if it would survive being run over by a truck. My favorite features are the full and solid grip in my hand, the 1-1/4″ wide easy to read tape, the “no-sag” extend-ability up to 11′, and the two-way locking tape option which allows the tape lock into position immediately as it is pulled out or to have the tape lock into position traditionally with the solid metal thumb lock. Other features include an 1-3/4″ wide X 11/16″ high detachable tape hook to help measure hard to access areas, a solid metal tape guide, slots at the bottom rear corner for an optional strap/lanyard, a belt hook, triple rivet fixed tape hook, and raised edges on the back of both tape hooks to prevent slippage.There are a few things to be aware of and perhaps suggestions for Stanley. I don`t believe that the built-in detachable tape hook storage ‘slot’ on the measuring tape body will prevent the tape hook from being easily lost especially for those using this tape for rough construction work. It should be noted that after attaching the detachable tape hook, there is increased friction for the large tape hook to slide in and out as freely as the fixed tape hook which may cause inaccurate inside/outside measurements. Lastly, I would have liked to see the bottom of the actual tape to include 1/32nd” increments.I’m almost 60, and I’ve loved tools since I was a kid. I am thoroughly impressed with this tough FATMAX 16′ and highy recommend it for construction/trade workers and serious do-it-yourselfers. Well done Stanley!

I have a couple 16′ tape measures that I used all the time but after using the Stanley fatmax the other ones sit in my toolbox collecting dust. The blade is nice and sturdy that I don’t have to walk to the other end to attach it to get a measurement.
