I received this product about a month ago. The Extra surface area on the front hook is great!! Be careful while installing it, look at the instructions. There is a small hole that looks like you’re supposed to push it through, but alas you are not. Stanley living up to their name for sure!

This tape measure is one of the best I’ve used. If you keep one in a drawer for around the house use, this is my suggestion. It’s sturdy enough to hold its self up without collapsing which is always a plus.

This is an exceptional tape measure. It is built well, has a wide 1 1/2 blade and the font is perfect for seeing numbers at a distance. Another great feature is the auto-lock function – giving the tape a precise hold where you need it. Excellent tape measure for DIY’er or pro.

This is the hardest Stanley tape to find, of course it would be my favorite. I find that I can build an entire house with one of these before I want to replace it which should tell you that it is very durable. I have now owned 5 of these and I like them because they are not too big, not to heavy but they have great outreach with a rigid blade. The additional blade tip allows me to use it when I want and remove it when it is in the way. The auto-lock feature that you can select as working or off is a great feature. Yes I have longer tapes and digital tapes etc, however this does 90 percent of your inside work, after all, how many 25 or 30 foot tall ceilings are you working with to measure and cut studs. How many pieces of tile over 16′ are you measuring up? This is always on my hip and my only complaint is that it is hard to find and sometimes I have to wait for it to be in stock. Stanley are you listening? Longtime Stanley customer here, let me know I will send you a picture of the Stanley cabinet lol.

I was 1st surprised that my new FATMAX 16′ auto lock tape measure has the best gripping surface as many tape measures slip and or slide out of you hand/s while trying to do a job. The auto lock also surprised me in how well it works and you don’t have to fumble around trying to lock it when your hands are full. I do all sorts of jobs from aviation, to automotive to plumbing and wood working. I now have the best possible tape measure on the market with all the cool helpful features like belt clip and detachable hook. the standard Stanley yellow helps me locate it when it’s set down out of normal sight or amongst other tools.

This tape is very well built, solid and seems that it will take a lot of abuse and last a long time. I’ve always used a 25′-30′ tape but the smaller sized body of the 16′ is easier to handle and use in tight spaces.The measurements seem to be very well printed on the tape and are easy to read with a nice contrast to the yellow of the tape. There is a nice coating on the blade as well as an extra 3″ guard at the tip of the tape as this is probably the most used portion of the tape measure.Stand out is fantastic and breaks around 10.5′.The removable hook is easy to install and makes the tape very versatile.The auto-lock feature is fantastic for repeated measurements. The tape has the option to engage the auto-lock or use it as a standard retractable tape.My only complaint about the tape is that when the auto-lock is engaged and you pull the tape without pressing down on the selector switch, the protective coating is rubbed off on both the top and bottom of the tape although no paint or numbers have been affected. It’s easy to forget to press the selector switch with extending the tape if you aren’t used to using an auto-lock tape.Overall this is a fantastic tape that is very well built and has functional features that make it a great addition to any toolbox for any trade.

This as a very comfortable tape to hold in your hand and operate all day. The autolock make it easy to grab a measurement and then make notes without fighting the rewind or lock. The blade is rigid but not so stiff that it feels like a sword. The size is perfect for everyday HVAC work.

using this tape the Fatmax auto tape to install floor molding around the faimily room. The feature of the auto lock is nice that the tape doesn’t recoil until you unlock it. The exta foot that comes with the tape I haven’t used it but the holding slot on the body of the tape insures it will not get lost that easy The markings on the tape are easy to read with out the bifocals

Really like this tape measure. If you have never used a self locking tape measure, you gotta give this a try. Once you use it, you will wonder what tool so long to get one of these. Plus it has a accessory for the end of the tape measure that clips on, and allows for hooking on to something in several different directions. I rarely need to measure more than 16 feet, therefore, this 16 footer is not so bulky in your tool pouch

I have had the opertunity to use this product for over a week. I finished up my salad bar box with the Tape measure. The wieght was perfect and the large numbers was a very good feature that made it easy to read. Every mark was marked correctly evrytime. The auto lock was a nice feature and made it easy to measure upto 6 feet with no issues. The hook at the in was nice and wide that help the tape from coming off the wood that was being measured. I think that the hook attachment was just something extra.

Now that I have had a few weeks of using the new Fatmax measuring tape and I am very happy with it. I’ve used the Leaverlock tapes for years and I always liked them but these have a better feel and come with a detachable hook that comes in very handy for areas that the tape measure will slip off of.After using the last two weeks I’ll switch out both my kids with these and use the Leaverlock at home or somewhere I’m more likely to loose them. Nothing really negative to say. They do what my old tape measures do but in a better way.

This is a great tape. I’m a stickler for making sure my tools are made in America, and this one certainly fits the bill. It’s a quality tape. Doesn’t kink easily like a cheapo tape we’ve all had. It does it’s job. Only complaint would be that the extra tip it comes with is kind of a bear to put on, but it’s not needed at all. All in all a great addition to the toolbox.

25 year professional remodeler. I find this tape to be very comfortable in my hand and the locking tape a nice convienence. The tape is wide and very easy to read. The tape easily extends outward 10 plus feet. The most impressive feature is the added intrchangeable tape tip. This tip when added to the existing tape will allow a single user to extend tape and hook from underneath and be able to read the tape without help. This is now my go to tape.

This tape measure is just the right length for most woodworking, and has a very stiff blade that makes measuring longer pieces easy to do. It is easily able to be extended for over 6′ without collapsing. The only more thing I could ask for is a little finer graduation of the measurements on one edge for fine furniture building.
