I have used Stanley FATMAX for about 13 years and they have stood up to most anything i have thrown at them, whether it be falling from 30+ feet, tape bending over and over, mud rolling up in the tape case, skid across the concrete or left out in the weather for a few days. FATMAX is a great tape and i will choose them everytime!

Great locking mechanism, however the tape is not sturdy enough. I can’t believe it’s guaranteed to reach 14’ before bending.

I love using these Stanley tape measures. I own several of these. My one complaint which is a super minor one, is how the first 3 numbers on the tape are smaller than the rest of the numbers. For me visually, this bugs the crap out of me. Other than that, works great.

I spent close to an hour at Home Depot trying out tape measures and looking at features. They have a lot to chose from. None of them had all the features I wanted in one. I didn’t want one to large for my hand, to short to measure longer distances (vs 16 ft). I wanted one with fractional markings for fast reference. I wanted the longest standout I could get because I work mostly alone. I wanted an easy to use lock system. I didn’t want MM on one side. I wanted easy to read.This has all of those.What it didn’t have that I would like, is measurement markings in the back side. I would give this a 4.5 star rating but rounded up. I also want a tape measure that is going to last and not cost a lot.
