This item is super tough! My nephew dropped it off of a roof the first day onto a wood deck and it bounced without breaking. Still works just fine. I normally buy auto locking so this one is convenient for quick usage, but I like the looks and features of the auto-locking FATMAX tape a little more! However, still a great tool that fits very well in the palm of your hand.

I have had this tape about a month and used it for several small projects. On the pro side the large type is terrific, especially for dimly lit areas and for those of us getting a little older. I also love the shape, it fits nicely in one’s hand and I never feel like it wants to slip out. Additionally, I like how the end piece is securely fastened, and not loose as with other tapes I own. On the con side, I think it is a bit heavy, but this may be due to the larger tape and heavy duty construction. I also wish I had opted for a longer length tape.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks. Works fine but the clip allows it to fall off my back pocketsometimes when I bend down. It’s fine for quick small job measuring but I prefer a longer tape on the job site.

AS I ALWAYS SAY IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT DON’T BUY IT. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN THE CASE WITH STANLEY TOOLS I HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD TOOL FROM STANLEY AND THIS INCLUDES THERE 16 FOOT FATMAX I HAVE TWO OF THEM , THEY FIT WELL IN MY HAND AND THE NUMBERS ARE VERY EASY TO READ, THE HOLD OUT TESTED BY ME IS AT 13 FOOT AS STATED. I WILL SAY A YES TO THE FAT MAX ANY TIME I NEED ANOTHER.

This is a perfect fit between my 12 ft. tape measure and my Stanley FATMAX 25 ft. Tape Measure. It offers the extra length needed sometimes without carrying the weight of the 25 ft. tape measure all of the time. The blade is easy to run out for around an 11 ft. reach when needed which truly comes in handy. The clarity and size of the font for the numerals is another positive point for taking accurate readings. The quality of Stanley tools has always impressed me and this FATMAX tape measure lives up to the reputation of Stanley. It will be used in the home or on the job and will serve me well for years to come I am certain. The extra yellow on the case stands out well for locating the tape measure even in the middle of a cluttered work area. Nice job on this 16 ft. FATMAX Tape Measure Stanley!

I have been using this tape measure for about 7 days. It’s a nice size easy to read numbers. I find it a bit hard to use the lock on it maybe because it’s still new and needs to be broken into? I’m also test the same one with an auto lock and I prefer the auto lock over the manual lock. Otherwise it’s still a very nice tape measure

Small, compact,well built with a strong return spring. It is not an auto-lock and that is pretty much all I use. Does not have the extra wide clip attachment for the end as the auto-lock. Built exactly the same as the auto-lock. Get the auto-locto for the added features.

+ made in USA!, bigger lock button with “rubber” to stop slipping fingers, like MAX SHIELD clear protective coating on 1st 6.125″ for protecting numbers, seams a little less wide than Classic Fat Max 16, tape retracts quickly, able to stretch out tape without collapsing without support. – a bit widder than classic FatMax16, numbers are not double sided on tape, not as much “rubber” on outside body

Over the last two weeks I have been able to use the tape measure while making salade bar boxes for a friends wedding. The size fits right into my hand perfect. The large numbers make it very easy to read and the wide feature of the tape measure make it where you can role the tape to the side to make your mark, everytime the wood marking was right on. If this unit had a lock on it this would be the perfect all around product.

I love this tape. I work in an HVAC metal shop, and tend to go through a lot of tapes. This has been durable, strong, maintains it’s wind-up power, and a great tape overall. I have always liked Fatmax tapes, and this one only makes me like them more.
