Stanley has always made great tape measures and this is no exception. Extra coating on the most used parts and the fatmax gives a bit more stand out than the normal stanley powerlock

This is a very good tape measure with some nice features. It is easy to read and snaps back into place with ease. I dropped it by accident and it did not seem to affect this tool at all. I would recommend this to anyone. Another great Stanley tape measure.

From the way it fits in your hand to the tape that extends out without bending, this tape makes measuring easier. The case is easy to hold right in your palm and releasing the tape takes just a slight motion of the thumb. A well designed tool.

I have the pleasure of using these two new tape measures on a recent home project. I have the Stanley FATMAX 16′(36 316), the Stanley FATMAX Classic 16′ (33 716) and my 12+ year old Stanley Lever Lock 25′ (30-825) tape measures. First thing, I never owned a 16′ tape before. It is small, base ball sized. Fits in your hand well. The actual tape is wider than my 25′. The 16′ is 1 1/8″ wide. the 25′ is 7/8″ wide. What they call stand out is close to advertised. I reached 12′ 8 ” with the FATMAX (36 316), 13′ is advertised on packaging. I reached 10’3″ on the FATMAX Classic (33 716), they advertised 11′ on the package. My 25′ came in at only 7’2″ (30 825). I’m not sure what Stanley claims I should have for the old tape. Since I have only been using the Lever Lock for so long, the thumb locks on both 16’ers seemed a little weird for me. Just cause they are new, the thumb locks are a little stiff. I am sure that will wear in quickly. Both tapes are easy to use, read & lock. The clamps held tight. These 2 new tapes retract very quickly. Keep your fingers away when these things get close. I could see getting a cut or two on my fingers till I get used to them and learn to keep my big hands clear of the fast moving tape. My 9 year old daughter was helping me and she noticed something I never thought about. She asked why the numbers are upside down. She is Left handed, and when you draw the tape with your left hand, the numbers are upside down. She wants to know if Stanley makes a Left handed tape measure.

Used for measuring new garage door and the extra wide reinforced blade stayed straight and strong even at long distances. Great product especially if working by yourself .

I love my Stanley Fat Max 16 foot tape measure it’s durable works great and definitely lives up to the Stanley brand I would definitely recommend this to everyone

The Fat Max is sturdy and withstands long measurements with out bending. It’s more compact and lightweight than my previous Fat Max. It clips to my tool belt very well and everyone notices the patriotic logo on the face of the measuring tape-bonus that it’s made in the U.S.A. Overall this is the best measuring tape that I’ve used and I’m proud to own it and use it all the time!

Compact design fits well in your hand. The tape is nice and wide which makes reading measurements easy. Smooth movement. Only criticism is that the bottom of the tape measure is rounded. When you extend the tape and set it down to make a mark it rolls over. Not ideal for a tape measure, but still gets the job done.

This is a well constructed tape measure, very easy to grip and use. It like holding a baseball, very easy to grip. Sturdy enough to handle the occasional drop or being knocked of the workbench.

I got a few weeks ago I enjoy using my new tape

The wide blade is nice & the numbers & graduations are easy to read. And, although it is easy to engage the lock with one hand, it takes two hands to release it-I could not do it with one hand as it was so stiff. It is a bit wide & cumbersome for a 16″ tape measure.

I really like the fit in my hand. The redesigned hook works great on my tool belt

This tape measure fits in my hand perfectly, it’s not bulky, leaving it easy to handle. It also looks and feels very durable. Extremely easy to lock also. Great, high quality tape measure.

Love the feel in your hand easy to use, really liked the tape it self was strong had upper and lower clips easy to read, however I think the lock mechanism would fail if used under adverse conditions. The belt clip is the best one I’ve ever used.

I was excited to receive two tapes recently for evaluation. Let me say up front I am a FatMax fan. I have broken many tapes over the years, both Stanly and other brands. When you work in the trades as Ihave for many years, that’s just a fact of life. When Stanley came out with the FatMax line I picked one up to try, and it became my go to tape. I still have that 30 foot tape. Which speaks to their durability. This tape has a redesigned case, I like it, at least in the 16′ size, it is comfortable to hold, and in a side by side comparison, my grip feels a little more secure than the standard case 16′ tape. The lock button is large and has a rubbery surface giving it a non-slippery grip. It locks with an audible click. You can also see it, and the design of the tapes outer rubberized surface gives you a definite visual cue as well. Anyone who has worked out in the elements of the North East will appreciate the grip and the feedback. The tape itself has the same three rivet with clear reinforcement for the first six inches as my trusty old 30′ FatMax. (A good feature, that I suspect is the only reason my old tape is still usable.) It is good and stiff, easily spanning 13′ when I tried it.The clip is spring steel and grips well on a belt. I do have one quibble, the outside end of the clip is straight rather than flaring out as the traditional style does, and I found the design harder to clip on a belt, though I think it may have held slightly better on my pocket.Overall a good value, and a worthy successor to the older FatMax tapes.

I am a professional of 25 years. This tape is perfect in size fits nicely in my hand, not too big. I especially like the easy to read markings on the tape and the long reach. This tape is a great universal tape for all construction and measuring needs. I hate narrow tapes they roll and won’t push but this tape is wide doesn’t want to roll and is stout enough to push down long boards. Sturdy and stout will last a lifetime.
