I bought this tape measure a year ago. I use it regularly and it has held up well even after falling from a ladder a few times. The tape still has retained its strength when held out without support. The yellow tape with large numbers is easy to read.

I grew up on the powermax and craftsman tapes. When I got the fat max the rest went in the trash. Hands down best tape there is. Best stick out of any tape I have had.

I actually found this! I was at a truck stop taking my lunch break, stepped out to walk and there it was. A bit oily but in perfect shape. Took it home and it has been a great addition to my tools. I just used it to hang our new curtains. They look fantastic! I asked for a second one for Father’s day and now I have one in my 2nd tool box just in case I misplace this one. The Stanley Fat Max tapes are the only tape measures worth using and what I use professionally and at home. The only thing that I’m disappointed in, is that i can’t find the Fat Max Extreme versions anymore. Wish Stanley would bring these back as they were the best…are you listening guys?

I used it to build a 400 sq. ft. 2 story shed. It made the work much easier. I wore the clutch out on the first one, so that the tape would creep back in while extended. The warranty dept. sent me a new one instantly… meanwhile I figured out to wipe the entire blade with a clean rag to remove some residue that was making the tape too slippery for the clutch to hold it out… from there on it worked well enough to finish the job. I have never found another tape measure that would stay out ridged and not collapse at great distance like this Fat Max
