This is a solid utility knife with a cast metal frame and rubber overmold. Pocket clip is well executed…not too hard to clip on pocket and not too easy to fall off. Blade change system is easy enough, but the blade carrier has a bit more play than a typical retractable knife. Pros are that the handle is hefty and comfortable to hold in use. Flip side is that the tool is comparatively bulky. The form factor also makes it difficult to cut close to a surface since the blade sits almost 1/2” above bottom of tool frame. Bottom line is that if you want a full size retractable utility knife, this is a good option.

Shorter wider grippy handle makes this knife very comfortable, the belt clip makes it easier to carry when I don’t need my pouch. Over all this is a different but great knife in comparison and is more suitable too work where you don’t have a pouch or working surface to keep a regular utility knife. Blade change is simple and effective. Other knives I’ve used, the easy blade change feature has gotten in the way of the normal operation of the knife.

Thought this make for a good EDC out in the field. I wanted something slim but still had an changeable blade. Out of the box the blade changing system seemed clunky at best and took a while to wear to a point where it’s a smooth operation. Now it’s no problem at all switching the blade out! It hits nice and secure on my pocket with the clip. I find myself reaching for this knife more and more! I’d say the only drawback is the changing mechanism but it’s not of a learning curve than anything!

Great utility knife — I especially liked the fact that new blades can be snapped into place and still be retractable. No screwdrivers needed. Good design,

I’ve dozens of utility knives, the Stanley Retractable Utility Knife with Control Grip is a cut above them all. My first observation is the bright yellow color; it makes this knife so easy to find in a full tool box or bin Secondly , is how easy it is to load the blades; it doesn’t have to be taken completely apart! The blade is out when you need and safely tucks itself away when not in use. I love the shape of the knife and the added grips. The risk of it accidently slipping while in your hand are null. That means, I no longer accidently cut my fingers or cut my projects incorrectly. The design of this knife increases safety and accuracy and makes it an indispensible item for anyone who crafts, builds or just needs a great tool for opening boxes or cutting tape at work. Great product, I highly recommend!

I’ve owned a lot of utility knives over the years including full sized, compact, and folding versions from a number of manufacturers. I have always liked the idea of a pocketable knife to keep on hand while working, but found found both compact and folding designs to be uncomfortable and/or downright dangerous to use, but it looks like Stanley got it right with this one. Thin but stout, it fits nicely in the pocket and secure in the hand. The Stanley InstantChange 10-788 has been my favorite utility knife for a while but this one might just take its place.

The knife you sent has a great grip. The change out of blade seems to be the one thing might need a little more thought. the first times in working that it seemed a little awkward, and not too smoothly preformed. It got easier.

While using this tool it has a very good grip in the hand. The size is excellent and is very secure and stable while using it. Having it clipped to my belt it is very good for having it with me when I need it.

It’s a utility knife with very easy to change blades. I didn’t have any issues using it to cut sheet rock. The grips kept the knife from slipping in my hands with the dust. Very confident is using it. The blade does have a little bit of play in it due to the quick change I believe. Only real gripe about it is there is no place to store extra blades.

Have used this a couple of times and it preforms really well as most all Stanley products always seem to do a little better than other brands!Very sturdy and comfortable to use also not too bulky or heavy, very nice balanced!

The tool-less blade change on this knife saved me time during the first use, however this is not the best feature. The belt clip positions the blade “just right” and even during extreme movement it stays put unlike my measuring tape again, not the best feature. The grip! The rubber grips on top, bottom, and sides provide me the best control in any knife I have ever used. The top and bottom grips allow me to transfer strength easily for the tough cutting such as carpet and other such things, and the side grips give me such control I can almost use this knife as a hobby knife! The shorter size compared to my old trusty stanley 99 is also a nice feature. I believe I have finally found a replacement for “old trusty”.

I have had many utility knives over the years, This is one of the best fitting knife, in hand. I like the size and how it feels. I have smaller hands and it is the right size. if you have larger hands it may no be comfortable for you.

I’m really impressed by the new utility knife offerings from Stanley. This is a very well designed knife. It’s a 5 star in terms of ergonomics. It allows you to put pressure on the blade and gives you excellent control over your cutting angle and path, far better than a standard utility knife.Loading and unloading blades is a little clunky at first, but easily mastered. You need to slide the blade all the way forward while sliding the tab in the front down, which allows the blade to slide just enough to be removed / inserted. When inserting a new blade, at first it feels like it’s obstructed by something and it won’t go in far enough, but it actually is inserted properly and will retract. Just takes a little getting used to if you’re used to a standard utility knife with the top slider and button release. The only downsides to this design are, if you’re doing a lot of routine cuts through thicker material, as opposed to precision cuts, your fingers and hand will probably appreciate a standard knife design, and, because the handle is shorter, there’s no room for extra blades. Which makes this a compliment to, not a replacement for, your standard knife.Despite lacking some of the features of a standard knife, I still must give this knife a 5 out of 5 because it executes its intended purpose flawlessly. And it is solidly built to boot.

I can say finally a utility knife that fills my hand. I was impressed with the fit in my hand it fills it well. I had a little trouble installing the blade but I think that was just me. I know I will use this the most from my other Stanley knives.

After receiving this knife, I put it into service. The size and heft of it were nice. I was rather disappointed with the instructions on the package. As an older worker with many older associates, I find that my eyesight was not up to the task of reading the instructions without glasses. A minor point but one to consider Stanley. Maybe pictures on future instructions?

This is the most comfortable and ergonomicly correct cutting tool I’ve ever used. The slide moves smoothly without binding a big plus. Blade changing is effortless and the belt clip works flawlessly

I am not a fan of how there is no extra blade storage, there seems like enough room to fit a few in the body of the knife. However, the belt clip is really nice to have

I really love the details of this knife. The grip is absolutely on point. It fits perfectly in your hands without worrying about dropping thanks to the rubber grip. The knife is very durable and not to heavy to hold and cut. I love how the lever pulls the knife back in without worrying about slipping and cutting your finger. Was also very pleased to see a extra blade on the back. Easy to use and gets the job done with no effort. Highly recommend.
