Good set of carving tools that are value priced. As a professional handyman and woodworker, I like having a good set of carving tools in the field for the occasional wood repair on cabinets, trim, etc. I found this set to be sturdy enough without the high price tag of something like Lie Nielsen or Veritas. Coming straight out of the box they had a few burred edges that I had to hone before using but after fine tuning them they worked great.

Tools need sharpening of course, mine took quite a bit but they perform very well after being sharpened. For the price and the time invested in sharpening, they are worth a five star review.

I’ve always wanted to try my hand at wood carving and this set of carving tools from Stanley were an inexpensive way to get started. In terms of fit and finish, these tools are only fair, the edge grind is a little rough as is the shaping. I found the edges unusable out of the box but after some shaping and honing the tools performed adequately. The handles are nicely turned but a little on the small side for my average sized hand. All in all, I feel these tools represent a reasonable value for the hobbyist wanting to give wood carving a try. Just be advised that the edges will need some work before they can be used.

I starting using this set of carving tools about a week ago. I am not a great carver but do usecarving tools from time to time. The first thing I noticed about this carving set is the blades were all very sharp. I have had other carving tools that need to be sharpened right out of the box. These tool were sharp right from the start. I also liked the size and shape of these tools. The handle just feel right. I can safely say I would recommend these carving tools to any one who needs or wants to carve. Great carving set.

Great starter set. Only one thing. I think they should be sharpened for the beginner who can’t sharpen them, or put in a instruction sheet on how to sharpen them.

Two of them broke within the first 10 minutes.

I have been using using the wood carving tools nonstop from the day I received them. They have not even begun to show signs of dulling nor have the edges chipped.

I was very impressed with the quality of this 6 pc. wood carving set. The tools were sharp enough to use right out of the package. With a little honing the edge is great. The handles were comfortable in my hands and I was certainly impressed that they were real wood instead of the usual plastic. This would be a great starter set for someone thinking about getting into wood carving. The variety of tools is a great place to start. As a former Industrial Arts teacher I would certainly consider using these with my students as I think that they would hold up well to woodshop classroom use.

My brother and I do wood carving and furniture repair as a hobby. This set works great. I really like the wood handles that feel nice in your hand. The only issue was on one of them, the metal collar fell off before I even used it yet. A little glue fixed it. Overall, great tools that are extremely useful.

I used these to carve a logo into a guitar body. They arrive nice and sharp and ready to go. I would by these again for a similar project if I needed to.

This is a nice set however, attention to detail was not there in the sharpening. I question what blade metal was used in making these. I demand a hardness of Rockwell 59-61 in my chisels and this should be clearly marked on the package.I would suggest either a wooden box or simple wall rack be included in the purchase even if it raised the price slightly.

The Stanley Wood Carving Tool Set is very well made. These Chisels stay sharp and don’t lose their edge. These are quality tools that live up to the Stanley name.

I’m a beginner with wood carving, but this set is super easy to use. They are seeming to hold up very well and I’m super pleased with them. I’ve only done some basic random designs on a couple 1x4s but work well!
