My sons have no idea what to get me for Xmas. I told one of them I had several small woodworking projects, and needed a backsaw (tenon saw, hand miter saw, whatever you want to call it). He bought me this. I should have been more precise…I want a saw I can use for the rest of my life, sharpening it as needed, and pass it on to him. This is one of your normal Stanley “throw-away” saws, for folks who do not wish to take the time to learn how to keep a good saw sharp. It cannot be resharpened. It has very hard, fairly sharp teeth that will be OK for a while, but when it no longer cuts easily and cleanly, you must replace it, since your saw files will NOT affect the induction-hardened teeth.I used this saw for one project. Its teeth were as sharp as can be expected on a new, inexpensive saw. It worked OK, but not as well as my old Disston panel saw which I sharpen myself. I gave it back to my son. He really doesn’t do much woodwork, and it will serve him well.I know I must sound like a snob, with a fetish for fine, expensive old hand tools. I’m not. I do quit a bit of rough carpentry and framing, and I use modern power tools for that. But I do like woodworking, and most of my hand tools were rescues — rusted relics from garage sales and flea markets — which I cleaned up. Most of the older saws have decent steel in the plates, AND THEY CAN BE RESHARPENED. I actually enjoy taking ten minutes to fettle an old saw, sharpening it and resetting the teeth if needed. A properly sharpened saw is simply a joy to use. This saw will never be that kind of tool. But it’s what most people want. For me, it’s a 2-star product at best. But I think most users will give it 4 or 5. I gave it 3, a compromise. I also recommended it, since I think most folks will like it.

This product is amazing! You move it back and forth on top of a piece of wood, and it CUTS IT! If you use it with this thing called a miter box, you can even cut precise angles, like 90 degrees and 45 degrees. If you have a piece of wood that you need to be cut to a certain size easily, then I highly recommend this saw.

As always with Stanley tools, expect the best. The sleeve is thick enough to use as blade guard so keep it handy. Saw has super sharp teeth and sturdy backbone to the blade. The handle, though decorative, needs some beveling on the back side unless you are a lefty. After a while the middle knuckle of index finger gets sore from edge of handle, had to sand it down to bevel then coat with waterproof sealer. But that is a matter of comfort during use.

Cuts well love the wood handle feels so much better then my old saw with plastic. Needed a replacement for the old one due to not cutting anymore and boy does this cut well and clean.

I am not an expert. This was my first miter saw. It seems to do the trick enabling more precise cuts and cuts efficiently.

The saw is light and I used it cut down a wood pallet. Now the pallet fits into my storage room floor. The saw is sturdy and solid. I had no problems cutting with it. The only thing, it came wrapped in this yellow plastic, it fell apart once I got the saw home…. The saw itself is very good.

Stanley Tools comes up with another great tool. This 14in Back saw exceeded my expectations. I tried it out on a piece of scrap wood and noticed immediately how firm and stable the blade is. And the 12 teeth per in Blade (well it is very sharp) I cut some soft pine wood and some hard Maple wood with ease. I’m not sure what kind of wood the Handle is made of but it is comfortable. The saw has some weight to it which makes it easy to control. For the price this is an excellent miter saw.
