Wow, Stanley Tools are so well made. There is a lot of attention to detail that makes me feel that this will be with me for a long time. A Slip Joint Plier give you more versatility than just a standard plier. Since the joint is adjustable, you can move the joint to make a larger opening and grip something that is larger. It’s low profile and small size enables you to get into small areas. The pliers are made from Forged Steel in a satin finish. The handles have a “double dipped grip” which not only makes it comfortable in your hands, but they are completely non slip. These pliers feel sturdy and substantial in my hands. The handles are black, and it’s a nice looking tool. The only downside I can think of is that if the handles were a lighter color they’d be easier to see when your looking for them…of course if the handles were a lighter color then they’d get stained quickly.

Great pliers for everyday use. These are 6 inch slip joint pliers with a comfortable rubbery covered handle. Most of my pliers have metal handles and the padding lets me apply more pressure. The jaws are slightly wider which is great, providing more stability and grip. I’ve used cheap pliers that twist and slide off the nut or bolt head. That should not be a problem with these. The pivot point or hinge for the slip joint is slightly tight which i like. They stay in the selected setting. These will get a lot of use over the years and my impression is they will hold up very well.

I ordered these pliers to replace an old pair that I’ve had for many years. I’ve always been very satisfied with Stanley products, so was happy to find these at Home Depot. Overall, the product seems very sturdy and it can definitely handle tough jobs, but the width adjustment for the plier head is extremely tight and stiff. It’s all I can do to adjust the width on these pliers. Perhaps this is an issue specific to this pair. I’m going to try a little lubricant to see if it helps.I will certainly keep these pliers and continue to use them but, if considering purchasing, do note that it may take two hands and some pull strength to adjust the grip width.
