Very nice assortment of Hex sockets at a very reasonable price. I think it was a very good deal. Plus Home Depot has a very good system for online ordering.

I got this kit to replace an old one from a different brand that just didn’t cut it. Everything in this kit is well machined with a nice chrome finish. This kit comes with a nice case that holds all the bits securely. The Allen bits are held securely in the socket holders and do not fall out like they did in my old set. The Allen bits and the socket holders are clearly labeled so if for some reason one did come out, you could just put it back in. The Allen bits fit very securely in the Allen head bolts. My old set had a loose fit and I kept stripping Allen bolts with it. That is not the case with this set. They held up great with repeated use in my impact drill.

Function appears to be good. As a test, I gripped the large one in a vise, and put a 100 ft-lb torque on the socket end. Changes I would like to see are:1. On the socket end, have the manufactures name engraved on it. 2. Assuming you have both the Metric and SAE set, then it would have been nice to have the Allen wrenches color coded on the socket end, usually blue for Metric and red for SAE. I have some socket sets that have this thin color band on the ends of the sockets, and I really like it. Ideally the depth of the groove is only as deep as the chrome plating.

Stark SAE allen bit socket set (13-Piece) review. The tools seem well made; the fit and finish is good with no mars or uneven edges; the sizes fit as marked. The bits come in a blue plastic case, which has a molded plastic hinge, stands out when in my tool bag or tool box, making the set quick to find when needed. How well the hinge will hold up long-term remains to be seen. The socket bits themselves fit well in both my cordless power ratchet and my standard hand ratchets. Oddly enough the socket ends are not all of one drive size – the smaller units take a ¼” ratchet, the mid-sized units take a 3/8” ratchet, and the largest requires a ½” ratchet. Of course, adapters can be used. Most sets I’ve seen have a dedicated drive size, not all three. However the unusual design means that these bits will fit into a remarkably small space, considering that there are 13 bits included. It took a few minutes for me to adjust to the idea but in practice it works well (assuming you have either all three ratchets on hand, or adapters for the ratchet that you’re using).Stark makes other, similar kits; I’ve acquired one each of the Metric and ‘long’ SAE kits and am finding them to be of similar quality. I’ve labeled the blue cases with black marker so it’s easy to grab the right box as needed. While Home Depot offers their standard 90-day return warranty, the manufacturer only offers a 30-day warranty and a 60-day parts warranty. That’s the reason for the ‘good’ rating instead of 5 stars; the tools themselves seem to be fine but nearly all of my other hand tools offer a ‘limited lifetime’ type warranty.HTHRegards,Jim

Overall, a great value for the set and the quality for the inexpensive price is good. Using this set is a big improvement for me in hand comfort by using a ratchet instead of the standard fold-up key set or L-shaped wrenches. This allows me to apply more force or use where a regular Allen wrench wouldn’t fit. Being able to use these socket bits with a torque wrench is also an advantage. The clearly marked bit size is engraved into the sockets as opposed to being laser etched. The socket bits snap into the organized carrying case to keep you from losing or accidentally spilling them. In addition, I labeled the bit sizes on the case with a marker for easier/faster size selection.
