The Displayport To HDMI Video Adapter Converter – M/F from Startech makes it possible to connect an HDMI display to a DisplayPort video card or source. The adapter supports a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 for computers and up to 1080p resolution for HDTVs. This passive adapter requires a dual-mode DisplayPort (marked with a DP++ logo), which allows both DVI and HDMI signals to pass through the port. The adapter supports audio pass through for 5.1 channel surround sound, as long as this is supported by the video source. Additionally, the adapter has a small form factor (2.2 x 0.7 x 0.4 inches) and is easy to use; no software or drivers are required.

I have had this adapter for my HP laptop for about 2 years and always works perfectly. I often need to output to a monitor that only has HDMI and this adapter fits the bill. I always keep it in my computer bag.

I take responsibility and I’ve done this before but beware: displayport at computer end to HDMI at the monitor. It will not work in reverse.

DId a great job hooking HDMI television up to a Matrox 3 video output video card with two DVI monitors hooked to it as well. Price point is very good and had no problems with the piece doing exactly what it should.

I have a new (refurbished) notebook with a DP instead of an HDMI connector. It works, and this plug is slightly more convenient than the SIIG short cable adapter I have, mainly because this one has no lock tab that makes it nearly impossible to remove. However, neither one seems to give my notebook support for HDMI audio, which makes it relatively useless for connecting a large screen HDMI TV for movies. Oh well.

I use this to provide an HDMI output port from my HP laptop. It has worked flawlessly.
