One interesting note with these adapters is you should plug everything into them before plugging them into your computer. I use this on a computer with a full sized DisplayPort output, and I often plug in Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters to connect other displays to my machine. This works reliably, and we have not experienced any problems with these adapters. Monitors go to sleep and wake up as they’re supposed to, and there are no loose connection problems.

Got this to adapt the mini DP on my Apple 27 Cinema Display to the CalDigit TS3. In my search for this adapter, I found in the Q&A of another similar adapter that a staff member recommend one with a male gender on the mini DP side. Apple displays need adapters with female gender on the mini DP end. I only have had this adapter for a week, so I can’t rate its long term use. I can only say that it works and that I am thus far happy and recommend this adapter to those that need to adapt an Apple display. Mark

Does not work on Apple Thunderbolt monitor. Mini DisplayPort is not Thunderbolt compatible, if you are trying to use an Apple Thunderbolt display on PC you will need a Thunderbolt card or port.

When I had to replace the old video card for new Radeon RX 590 model in my wife’s 2012 MacPro, the up graded required a 1.4 DisplayPort to Apple Mini DisplayPort the adapter so that she could continue using her Apple 27-inch Cine-Display. Having done this exact conversion to my own MacPro with the same arrangement the year before, I found that StarTech brand adapter to be a good reliable avenue to go.
