I had hoped to avoid having to acquire a PS/2 keyboard in order to solve issues where USB connections stopped working… But, this adapter did not work to connect a USB keyboard via the PS/2 port on a Dell 960 Windows 10 computer for troubleshooting purposes. It also did not work on an older laptop that had no USB issues. Since this didn’t work I still had to find a real PS/2 connected keyboard – which DID work via the same PS/2 port and I was able to solve the issue. Would have been useful if it worked. I have since read it’s not uncommon that this type of adapter doesn’t work; seems to be a characteristic of the type. Still, return was easily handled via bhphoto, which I appreciate!

Nice device to make an older motherboard compatible with today’s USB devices.

Another reviewer said it didn’t work at all… which is not the case if you use it with a keyboard that inherently supports PS/2 and USB (i.e. the IC of the device needs to be able to communicate using the PS/2 protocol). This adapter is a purely mechanical converter. Many modern keyboards don’t support it, some do. Your mileage might vary. Don’t blame StarTech for this though since it’s by design.

I bought several of these for use with a USB keyboard, to connect it to a computer with PS/2 ports. I tried this on 3 different computers, none of the computers recognized the keyboard. I know the keyboard works because I use it on a computer with a USB port
