Simple adaptor to connect old favorite PS2 mouse to system without PS2 plug.

I bought this adapter to allow me to use my old PS/2 mouse on a Windows 8.1 laptop that only came with USB plugs. However, it seems that Windows 8.1 no longer supports PS/2 devices even with use of an adapter. I’ve seen some forums suggest that it is possible to override this by tweaking the Registry settings.
