Turn your internal 2.5″ SATA hard drive into an external USB 3.0 drive with the 2.5″ USB 3.0 SATA III SSD Hard Drive Enclosure from StarTech. This bus-powered hard drive enclosure features one SATA III (6 Gb/s) drive connector along with one USB 3.0 host connector allowing you to plug the external drive into nearly any USB 3.0 compatible Windows, Apple, Linux, or Google Chrome OS based machine. The enclosure has also been tested with SATA III drives in capacities of up to 1TB to ensure compatibility with nearly any drive you place into it.

I’ve been using many enclosures before . this one has a very good vantilation . I use it for hours just regular warm no heat at all . The USB 3 speed my hard drive I did not expect that . Good blinking blue light when connect .

I used this to house the 2.5 hard disk from a dead MacBook laptop. After removing the mounting hardware from the drive it fit this enclosure. Although the older Mac Mini I’m using has no USB 3.0 ports, the enclosure is backwards compatible with the older USB ports. The MacBook drive works well as an external drive.

Had no errors and impressively good performance doing partition clones using CloneZilla. Saw effective speeds exceeding 3 MBPS on large transfers from local SATA 3 disk to SSD and or SATA 3 HDD in this enclosure. Transfers were 150 MB to 980 MB.
