The white USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet NIC Network Adapter from StarTech adds a single RJ-45 Ethernet port to a USB-enabled computer system, with support for Gigabit network connections at full bandwidth when used with a USB 3.0 host connection, unlike USB 2.0 adapters. This compact adapter is backwards compatible with older USB 2.0/1.x computer systems (speed limited by USB bus), making it a suitable portable replacement network adapter or laptop accessory. In addition, with support for features such as Jumbo Frames, VLAN tagging and Wake on LAN (WOL), the adapter offers versatile Gigabit network performance for home and business users alike.

I have three old laptops/netbooks that I now use for downloading cameras simultaneously while on location at multi day events. These devices work perfectly. There were some negative reviews, but I have no issues so far. They do exactly what they’re supposed to, turn a USB port into a Gigabit Ethernet port. I’m using them in USB 2.0 ports and they transfer data as fast as USB 2.0 can send it and didn’t slow down at all during multiple 60 GB transfers.

Works great, as advertised. B & H is still the best

Good product, tricky install for VMware esxi6.5

I needed to connect my RJ45 FiOS internet cable directly to my laptop in order to get top speed from the FiOS service. My laptop did NOT have a RJ45 port so this adapter, converting RJ45 to USB, solved the problem. Definitely Plug ‘n Play installation.

Its a good product. It is very configurable. It does offer decent performance. Can be used for direct link to Ethernet based interface of laser printer.

windows 7 and mac os x , just install driver and you are good to go.

So far so good, no problems. Purchased to replace the intermittent built-in NIC on a laptop.

It works. Dongle design is the better than straight adapter which may put strain on USB input jack on laptop.
