Made from durable steel with a corrosion-resistant black oxide finish, this tool has comfortable PVC dipped curved handles and cuts solid and stranded wires with equal ease. The precision-machined hardened steel cutting blades overlap slightly to give a clean cut through insulated and non-insulated copper and aluminum wires. This is just a neat little tool. It’s small, but rugged. It’s made out of 1/8” steel which appears to be hardened. I’ve used it to cut 12 gauge wire like a hot knife through butter so my guess is you could easily clip much larger gauges or clusters of wire. I work a lot with wire gauges smaller than 10 gauge – automobiles, motorcycles and residential wiring – and these cutters are just ideal for me. Easy to carry in my pocket and more rugged than similar larger tools.

do not let the small size of these mini wire cutters fool you. The quality is excellent, The small size is very convenient and so far all the different size cables I have used these cutters really make the cutting easy and fast.Most of the time I put these cutters in my pockets as I don’t usually use a belt pouch, so they easily fit and are there when I need them and they done a great job for me.

The Steelman mini wire and cable cutter is just the thing for getting into those tight places to cut cables or copper wire. They are good for phone lines and electronic equipment repairs. The handles are encased with padded plastic covers bound at the front end with red markers to alert one to possible shock hazards. The handles are formed in such a way to allow single handed manipulation to open and close. It should be noted that these cutters are strictly for copper wire and should not be used on hardened steel and they are marked as such on the cutting jaws.

Sharp, compact and easy to grip.The blades are ‘by-pass cutters’; that is both blades are ‘flat sharpened’, and the flat portions intersect to cut the wire.Typical cutters (aka diagonal cutting pliers) have both blades sharpened to edges/points. The two point contact is where the cutting happens.Curved handles provide padding; don’t use this tool on hot circuits.Not designed for flush cuts on circuit boards.As a wire stripper…and I have used it for that task. Depends on your control / dexterity not to nick the wire.A screw driver and an Allen wrench set the tightness between the blades if needed. Mine was good to go as received.A good compact simple tool…no springs, latches or gimmicks. I’ve used it with 14~24 AWG solid and stranded copper wire.

Great set of wire snips. Strong, but small. I like having a set of small snips when I am doing light electrical work around the house. These new snips are for medium or large hands (small hands would feel uncomfortable trying to close them). The handle itself is designed to be used in one direction only, as they have a slight curve designed to fit in the cup of your hand. They can be used by either left or right handers, but only one way is “up”. I’ve snipped some standard house wire with them while installing some switches and a ceiling fan. They also worked nicely with some Cat6 I was trimming. Very pleased and it looks like the metal should hold a strong edge for a while.
