An electric mower is not going to be as good as a gas mower but with a little practice and patience it does OK on a smaller lawn. Getting used to the “cord” is probably the hardest learn. Easiest is no gas, no oil and no pull to start! This mower allows my wife to mow when I am unavailable. Price for cordless still to high to invest in.

Ordered this mower as a first-time home owner with a mid-size yard. The real testament to this machine is the fact that I purchased the home two months ago and had yet to mow… Yikes! When it finally came in the mail (delayed shipping and back-ordered by Home Depot) I put it to the test. Installation was a quick and easy 15 minutes, but had to do a little trouble shooting when starting it. The guide says to pull the starter bar and the push the starter button at the same time, but you have to push the button before pulling the bar (thanks, Google). I started on the highest setting and it took two passes to get through the thick, 2′ tall grass. Then I lowered the deck to clean up/mulch everything down. Powerful enough to get through the tall stuff and lightweight pushing. Also purchased a 80′, 12 gauge extension cord to use with it – I didn’t have any trouble maneuvering the cord while I mowed and got a system down pretty quick to have it follow behind me without getting in my way. This was a really economical, eco-friendly, low-maintenance option and overall solid investment for lawn-care.

I’ve only used it twice since getting it, but the Sun Joe Mow Joe 20″ lawnmower exceeded my expectations. It not only does a great job cutting the grass, it also has been wonderful going over some somewhat rocky areas rife with hills and ditches. Sun Joe is lightweight which makes it a breeze to push even on uneven ground, and especially on a very steep hill. I’ve used electric mowers since I was a teenager, because my family has always been predominantly female and electric mowers are easier to maneuver. Over the years I have gotten used to having to make two passes with the mower most of the time to make sure all the grass is cut, but with the Sun Joe I’ve only had to mow once over most of the grass. Only a few spots, with extra long and hardy weeds, have needed a second run.The cord is not a problem either once you establish a mowing pattern that avoids having to move the cord constantly. I know there are some people who complain about the cord, but what did they expect when they ordered an electric mower? Don’t like having to move the cord? Then don’t order an electric mower!

Yes, it did what I need it to do and it’s easy for this old gal to operate! I’ve had an electric one before and really like them. They don’t “poop out” on you and you don’t have to tote cans of gasoline!

For a small yard that had gotten overgrown it did a good job. I did need to go over areas twice where the weeds were around 8″ and it bogged down some in those areas. Overall it did a pretty good job and if you don’t let the yard get to tall it should be a good choice for a small yard.

Best mower I’ve ever had!

Exactly what I needed. Being corded was not a problem. Great for a small lawn.

Since I am a fairly small female in my 60s, I appreciate the lightness of these corded mowers. Without a heavy gas engine or battery, there is no need for self propel. I don’t throw my back out yanking a cord to start it up, just push the button. I don’t have to run out and get gas or replace an expensive battery. It’s a fairly uncomplicated machine, so not much to break down. This is light but also strong enough to do a good job on the tough Florida grass.I had a Greenwise for 6 years before getting this. I can’t complain about that one, 6 years for the price, it paid for itself in two months. I just passed that one on to someone who needed it. In comparison, this is similar but there are some design features I think I like better, such as the wheels. They are bigger and seem a bit more durable. It comes with a great 2 year warranty also.
