it works well, and I like the size of branch it will cut. I used it to trim a 25′ tall holly tree and with an extension ladder got everything except the very top, which I did with a regular tree pruner one branch at a time. I can definitely see that it could be overly top heavy and difficult to use for someone without the upper body strength to wield it or the body mass to provide counter-leverage when reaching up and sideways – could tip you over. If you are not big / strong enough, make sure there is nobody else near you when in use, and especially do not use this on a ladder unless you are very experienced with ladder work.

With the extension pole, yes, it is pretty heavy. It helps a lot to always wear the shoulder strap like the instructions say. But looking at other brands, it’s no heavier than any other electric hedge trimmer with a pole extension. That’s just how it is. And this is the only model I’ve seen that converts to a hand held trimmer. That’s a handy feature. As far as the actual cutting goes, it works excellent. I was worried about using a brand I’ve never heard of, but so far it works well. The other alternative might be to go with the Echo gas powered models, but I don’t know how much lighter or easier to use those would be. I do know that they cost $300-500, so this is a great price for this trimmer.

I’m very impressed and love this tool. Trims effectively very high up andacross without wobbling on a ladder. Easy to use and change from high to low trimming. It had no difficulties trimming (IE: powerful) and the ease/safety is astounding. The belt helps to balance the trimmer when extended for more control. My only regret is that I wish I had found this sooner…I was using a ladder and it was scary.
