This torque wrench was well built, precise, and comes with an inspection certificate detailing torques and actual output. It also includes a blow molded case to prevent accidental damage when not in use. Home Depot was cheaper and had a quicker delivery than Northern Tool. They also had the axle nut socket in 1/2” drive whereas NT only had 3/4” drive.

I got this Sunex 1/2 in dr. torque wrench to replace the junk craftsman made in china which was defective even before it shipped to me. In my research I found out that there are no convincing 1/2 in. torque wrenches under a $100 that are more than rolling dice. I was impressed by the Sunex reviews of this tool and Sunex other tool products. I ordered it thru Home Depot and was not disappointed. A very well made tool with calibration certificate and sturdy case. I have used it on 2 vehicles lug nuts. I do recommend this tool. I did not notice where it was made but I heard it may be Taiwan but does not look cheaply made at all. Spend the extra $ and get peace of mind and avoid hassle.

I’ve been using this torque wrench for awhile now and it has been great. These are really easy to set and the click is very distinct. The length of the handle has really helped on things over 200ft.lbs. I use a digital torque meter to set the torques on this before using, and have found the marks to be within about +-.1 to .3% clock wise, of what I get on the meter. In the instructions it states that after sitting unused for awhile, to run the wrench all the way to the top range, and then the bottom at least three times. I’ve found that if I only do it once and then set my torque, that it stays within the range I just mentioned above. But I’ve also been using it quite a bit, so it doesn’t sit for more than three or four days. After a longer period of time has gone by, I would probably preform it the three times. I have the 3/8 in. and the 1/4 in. as well and have had no problems with any of them, as well as many of their sockets (which is where they started 40 years ago). Sunex is a great company with awesome customer service and I trust that these wrenches will preform well for years to come.

I don’t perform many tasks that require the use of a torque wrench…lug nuts mostly, the occasional axle nut when doing wheel bearing hubs on GM cars. With that, I thought that I would not need to get a high-quality torque wrench. I may not need it every day, but boy am I glad that I got this one. First off, it’s actually accurate! Who would have thought that the cheapie that I’ve been using would be so far off from calibration. But it’s the features that make this thing so much batter than what I had. It’s long, it’s about 24″ long, which allows you enough room to actually generate the max torque range for this wrench. It’s easy to adjust, instead of a screw at the bottom, this one has an easy to operate toggle that you slide down to adjust the setting. While adjusting, it has positions to lock into so that you know you’re dialed in accurately. The markings are easy to read, in both ft/lbs and N/m. I like the protective case also, no worries about the wrench getting knocked around in transit and getting out of whack. Really, really glad I got this, very nice upgrade.

I got this Sunextools torque wrench because of other Sunex products I have purchased & been very pleased with. This torque wrench is no exception! It has the look and feel of a quality tool. The torque scale is very easy for my older eyes to read vs. the lightly etched scale of my other wrench. Also the locking collar is spring loaded, so not only is it very easy to adjust but locks in automatically to hold the torque. No more forgetting and having it change while torqueing a fastener. This has become my “go to” torque wrench for all my critical engine rebuilding work!

I have both end of the spectrum when it comes to torque wrench’s. Very inexpensive, that I worry about being accurate, and high end digital that I worry about damaging. I thought that this wrench would end up landing somewhere between the two. However much to my delight this wrench is definitely on the high end. Maybe better. due to the fact that the ruggedness of the build eliminates much of my fear of damaging it during normal use. Details. Very nice locking case. Better then my high end wrench. The knurling on the handle is nice and deep providing good grip even with grease covered hands. I really like the positive lock for setting torque. Easy to adjust and read the settings. I have only used it up to 140 FT. LBS., but you would have to really pull on it to get it up to the 250 FT LBS. number and you don’t want to have to worry that pulling hard on the handle will change the settings like on an inexpensive wrench. The very fine tooth ratchet head works very smooth and only takes a small movement to ratchet. Great for tight spaces. My only concern is that the laser etched scale could wear off. However I have some laser etched sockets that I had the same concern about and they are doing fine, so probably not a big deal. This is now my go to torque wrench. As for the inexpensive one. Binned it.I will load a comparison picture of what one click is on the ratchet and a couple closeups.

I have been using this for about a week now. The lock on the torque setting is great. Good length for getting the torque you need.
