The Swanson Post Level is the coolest little leveling aid you could ever want. There are 3 bubble levels on a plastic frame. The frame is made from molded plastic in a 90-degree angle, like an open book. Two of the bubble levels are on opposite faces of the frame. One bubble level is on the corner mounted vertically. There are magnets on the top and bottom of each face of the frame. My posts were small in diameter and the levelling aid would “not” magnetically stick. However, for my case Swanson provided a tough stretchy nylon rubber band and the aid has hooks on each side to attach the rubber band. The rubber band held the leveling aid in place with no slipping.Once the leveling aid is attached and with both hands free, I could easily move the post to a perfect plum position. I leveled all six poles of a canopy shelter in about 10 minutes, including taking pictures. What a neat device. I tried magnetically attaching the leveling aid to a 4×4 inch square post and the magnets worked just fine when they have enough surface area to attach to. I would highly recommend the leveling aid for fence posts, deck rails or water pipes, really for anything needing to be vertically plum.

If you are planning on setting fence posts, either wood or metal, this Speedlite magnetic post level is a must. As the name implies, it is magnetic, so it adheres to a metal post, allowing you to hold onto the post while positioning it. It also comes with an elastic band to hold it in position on a post that is not magnetic. I was checking the accuracy of a 6×6 wooden post, so I simply tapped a small nail into the post to hold the level. It can be used either vertically or horizontally on any surface, not just posts. I love it!

The Swanson 5 in. Speedlite Magnetic Post Level will be very useful to get posts plumb. I do not think the birds care if the posts that hold the birdhouses are a half bubble off plumb, but the weather station prefers to be mounted on a vertical post. Using this level will be much better than using a torpedo level to get plumb in one axis, then again at 90° around the post. “Lather, rinse, repeat.” Wish I had this post level years ago.

I purchased as an extra copy for my dad. We used another one to help put up 4×4 treated posts per the grape vine fence remodel.

This is a very handy product for ensuring posts are plumb in both directions when building post & rail fences. It is manufactured from a high visibility yellow plastic that should be visible if dropped in the grass. It includes a bubble vial that can be used for horizontal leveling when building decks. The magnetic feature is iffy, it didn’t work well on a metal stake for garden fencing but did work on 2-¼” galvanized metal pipe like that used for chain link fence. The included strap is not as resilient as a rubber band but does work on 4” square posts. It also has a small hole for a nail if you want to hang on the corner of posts rather than use the strap. It would be really nice if they could make this to fold like a door hinge to store in a tool box or nail apron.

I bought this for installing a flagpole which it really isn’t suited for. It’s better for a square post or something magnetic. I strapped it to the flagpole and it didn’t read the same as my 4 foot level, which I trust. Might be good for a 6 foot post, but not a 20 foot flagpole. It’s worth the cost, just not ideal for every use.

The 5 inch Speedlite Magnetic Post Leveler arrived quickly and well packaged to prevent shipping damage. It was one piece and well insulated with dunnage. I selected it because of it’s unique characteristic design. I like the one piece 90 degree placement with horizontal and verticle bubble indicators. The magnetic characteristic is the best feature. I use it for buikding projects with large and small square lumber. The quality is excellent and easy to use. It’s working out as planned and would oreder it again.

How useful is this? Very useful. Makes it easy to do just what the name says. “Post level”. I went around my yard checking every post and seeing which were the winners and which were the losers. It has magnets attached for attaching to metal posts. Stuck well on one post but on another that was heavily galvanized you had to treat it carefully or it would have slid down or fallen off. With a careful touch I was able to work with it. The next time I set a post I’ll be glad I have this tool. I’ve used levels for making posts plumb before but you have to move them around to different sides and measure repeatedly. This one checks both dimensional planes at once. There’s a hole in the corner where you could tack a small nail if you wanted to set a wooden post. It’s from Swanson, I’m not an expert but I believe Swanson is known for quality levels and they’ve been in business around 100 years. .

Simple and easy to use one man tool when using both of your hands is a must. Accurate to level and plumb at the same time. Has magnets on each side and an elastic strip down the middle. Perfect for metal posts and easily attached to wooden ones. Bright yellow high impact plastic and floresent level bubbles also makes it easy to use and see. Nice little hand tool that you will find many uses for…. I highly recommend this product

Another well made, functional and inexpensive tool for your home or workplace. Made from a bright yellow, high impact composite material allowing for an easy to find feature in your work shop. All three Vials, two horizontal and one vertical, have a nice bubble and are bright for easy to read. Four strip magnets, two on each side, hold to bare metal well but struggle if the metal has a plastic coating or some type of non-magnetic coating like paint or even rust on it. The strap is “ok” but will not take much abuse but the primary holding feature is the magnets. The price of this product is such that you should buy several. Product functions as advertised but I’m not convinced it is a “heavy duty” use product as the OEM states. The post level does stick to bare metal but struggles if there is any nonmagnetic coating on the metal. Love the color, easy to find, easy to read bubble, can’t go wrong with this product. Recommended.

Get a few, they are affordable and work. Forget about bungee cording your full sized level again.Yep, that’s what I did on three posts recently: bungee corded two levels to the post. Not only was that a pain, it potentially caused the post to drift out of level due to the weight. These little guys do the trick without the pain of having two full sized levels to attach. It comes with a durable little rubber band that works well on a 4×4. The magnet does work on a round metal post. Nice bonus. But most of mine are wood. There are hooks for a small bungee (or larger rubber band) to attach 8×8.Seriously, get a few. This way your helper can look on the other side or at a different height.

This post level is a very needed tool for my toolbox. I like the size of this level, which makes easy to store in my box. Being made of plastic makes it maintenance free and durable as metal ones can corrode. The magnetic strips inside it are a plus when using it on metal posts. It also came with a band to hold it in place to non magnetic surface. I’ve found you can also use it on horizontal surfaces also.
