The Swanson 9 in. Magnetic Extruded Aluminum Torpedo Level is awesome. It’s easy to use, sturdy but lightweight. I bought a home and have been working on it for some time now and this Level has been handy. I used it to put up chair rails, and hang pictures. I am a Senior Citizen, I work slower than some but I get the work done. It is important to have good tools.I would recommend this Level to anyone.

I love torpedo levels, they are great for small projects around the house. I used to do steel framing for a living and have used quite a few different ones over the years. The one feature that can make or break one for me in the past was the strength of the magnets. This Swanson 9″ has 3 good sized rare earth magnets that do a great job of locking on tightly. Not the strongest, but pretty darn strong. 3 bubbles, a solid 1/8″ rail and a hole on each end for hanging it.

This is a really nice magnetic level. The aluminum beam is a full 1/8 inch thick and has a great heft to it. Each end of the level has a large hole so this could hang over your workbench on a screw or nail with no problem. I like that the vials are encased in a white plastic housing making the bubble in a green liquid super easy to read (I have a level by another maker and the vials are in black plastic housings with clear alcohol – not the easiest thing to see in a low light situation like when you’re in a basement putting a pitch on a drain line). This level has three super strong magnets ensuring it won’t get bumped off a pipe or steel stud. On the opposite side of the beam is a V-groove channel intended to keep the level positioned on round pipe but I think that could have been a bit wider or deeper. Testing the level by flipping it end over end or turning it upside down showed the bubble in the same position each time proving that it’s dead on accurate. Just a really nice level that could be at home in any carpenter’s, welder’s or plumber’s tool bag.

Very high-quality small level with magnets. Picture shows the three magnets on one side for sticking to ferrous metals. Has horizontal, vertical, and 45 degree bubbles. Heavy, high-grade aluminum is very sturdy. Also has a hole at either end, presumably for hanging the tool up when not in use. Everyone needs a small level in his or her toolbox. This one is really nice and I highly recommend it!
