The Savage Lighted Torpedo Levels have all the same amazing features as the solid billet torpedo levels, but with the additional convenience of being lighted. This level is essential for anyone who has worked in tight cramped areas such as under sinks, in a basement or closet, or in a tight wall cavity. Its grooved top allows you to easily work on pipes and as a torpedo level it is practical for day to day use. Besides the convenience of this tool it is a true innovation that changes the way you see lighted levels. The Savage lighting is a completely integrated system, designed and manufactured specifically for its purpose. It uses three very bright, instant on/off, LED-lighted vials – all connected to one power source. Swanson’s patent-pending Bright view vial technology captures and reflects light for maximum readability, even with the lights off.
- Bright view vial surrounds reflect light into the vials for improved visibility
- Vial lighted system with ten minute auto shut-off, (1) button controls all three vials
- Permanently sealed vial caps with 029° vial accuracy never need to be recalibrated
- 4 strong neodymium v-grooved magnets have 10X stronger hold to eliminate level movement on metal surfaces
- V-grooved edge for working on pipes and round stock
- Precision machined, solid billet aero space aluminum frame for maximum durability
- Limited lifetime guarantee

I like the strong magnets and the lighted sights. The only bad part was that Home Depot doesn’t carry it ” in store ” , only online

Just what I needed. I am an electrician and this thing is tough and very helpful when working in dark areas.

Best level out

Great level, well worth the price! The lighted vials make it awesome! The ONLY reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is I wish the magnets were stronger. They’re good, but not as good as some of the new levels out there. That being said, I definitely recommend it!

This review is for the Savage brand 9″ Lighted Torpedo Level model TLL049M.I was granted the opportunity to check out one of these gadgets (I already own four levels, one of them being a 9″ torpedo from another brand). On the first usage a couple of things came immediately to my attention:1. This unit is considerably heavier than my “regular” magnetic based torpedo level even though in dimensions they are quite similar. (Part of this is the two included AAA batteries that power the light, but the fact is that this unit is simply more substantial than my previous model).2. The magnet on the Savage model is ‘way stronger than on my older level.3. I didn’t realize how great having a lighted level could be in close quarters. Under the kitchen sink and in one of the bedroom closets the lighting feature really made a difference. (See photo below). The Savage level I received is not made in the U.S. but does come with a limited lifetime warranty (abuse, twisting, dropping to the breaking point, etc. are not covered naturally but the accuracy of the level is guaranteed). The lighting feature is turned on / off by a single button and has a 3-minute auto shutoff built in. The single button controls the lights in all three bubble vials. The level offers the standard 0, 45, and 90 degree views. The lights are powered, as noted, by two AAA batteries that are accessed for replacement by removing a battery door held on by two Philips screws (see photo below). There are ruler markings embossed on one side of the level and fit and finish are excellent.I think it’s a great value at the market price, and the lighting feature has to be seen to be truly appreciated. I’m giving this one a place in my “go to” tool tote and putting my older torpedo level out the pasture in the garage.HTHRegards,Jim

Very strong magnets, the illumation button helps drastically when working in dark confined spaces, only complaint is why HD has stopped selling these levels, following suit with the other home improvement competitor.

It was very good

The battery cover breaks way to easy. I dropped it before first use and broke the cover and it didn’t hit the cover itself. However the light is a great use

I own this level and it’s great. It is way better than the klein level in that it is similar in design but only it has three magnets.I have the Klein level also which is double the price, the savage level has four rare earth magnets and sticks very well to steel pipe I love the light feature on both levels but the Klein level’s light function broke after three months of use. This level has been going strong for over a year now. I am a working Foreman in the fire sprinkler trade who definitely uses his tools. This a great level because of the areas we work in aren’t well lit for example above sheet rock ceilings you can see the vials very clearly
