Built with a quad-core processor and an AES-NI hardware encryption engine the DiskStation DS920+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology is a compact NAS designed to streamline your data and multimedia management and productivity. Two built-in M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots and Synology SSD Cache technology allow you to boost system I/O and application performance, while a scalable storage design lets you start small and expand the overall storage capacity as your data grows with Synology’s DX517 expansion unit. The DS920+ is equipped with four drive bays that are capable of natively supporting 3.5″ SATA hard drives, as well as 2.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs. Using its four drive bays, this NAS will allow you to store and share a large number of files with up to 2048 user accounts and 2000 maximum concurrent connections.
The DS920+ runs on Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, which is a browser-based operating system which helps to simplify managing your Synology NAS. Its CPU is a 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron J4125 Quad-Core with a burst frequency of up to 2.7 GHz, and its 4GB of DDR4 RAM, which can be upgraded to 8GB, allows frequently used files and applications to be quickly accessed. Using its Gigabit Ethernet port, this NAS is capable of sequential read speeds up to 225.99 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 225.9 MB/s, as well as encrypted reads at up to 225.99 MB/s and encrypted writes at 225.91 MB/s.
Also featured are two USB 3.0 Type-A ports which allow it to be connected to your host system, an eSATA port for the DX517, and network connectivity is achieved via the dual integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports that support link aggregation and failover, allowing your stored data to be shared with users throughout the network. Data may also be made remotely available through the free iOS and Android applications. For those who require RAID support, the DS920+ supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, as well Synology Hybrid RAID and Basic RAID, each of which offers performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD is also available, allowing each drive bay to be individually utilized.
The DS920+ is engineered to be energy efficient. Not only does it offer dual 92 x 92mm fans to help keep the system running cool at all times, its noise dampening design, with a rating of 19.8 dBA, makes for quiet operations. The server supports numerous scheduled power on/off cycles and hard drive hibernation to further minimize power consumption and operation expenses.
The Synology DiskStation DS920+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure operates on 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and includes an accessory pack, a 100W AC power adapter, an AC power cord, and two RJ45 LAN cables. It is protected by a limited 3-year warranty.

I just upgraded from my trusty ds220j and truthfully didn’t realize what I was missing. I put in 4 4tb drives and my raid is snippy and running great. After installing Plex, I am actually getting better transcode speeds than with my old i7 server running internal raid. Along with that, b&h meticulously packaged this and shipped for a safe arrival. Awesome purchase

I got the drive as suggested by B&H. The Seagate drive to noisy with clunking noise and wake up with loud buzzing sound. This is my first Seagate hard drive I should get the another brand I been using for years.

Came out for 2020, still has the Intel chipset which supports graphics that can be used for things like Plex server than the 923 with the amd chip but that appears to be more focused of business application but it’s has been solid with Plex server, added expansion ram for vm and nvme caching for vm, can’t use the nvme for storage but mechanical Nas drives are still relevant these days especially TB storage per $.

Had difficult time setting it up spent two weeks back and forth with tech support. They would take days to reply and were not super helpful. They basically kept sending me links to Utube videos which you had to watch and fix it yourself. I have had 4-5 WD Nas and never had any problems setting them up. It was a hastle but works well now.

Bought this as an upgrade from a DS218+. The new server is definitely more responsive and seems a bit more reliable. Twice the drive capacity built-in is a nice touch as well.
