I populated a Synology DS3622xs+ with these, and they work great. The only reason they get three stars versus five is because they cost twice as much as Seagate Exos drives of the same capacity, with no discernible benefit. I only bought them because Synology ONLY supports their own drives in the new DS3622xs+. Which is unfortunate.

Solid drive, works well, High Price but it is most compatible when using Synology NAS units.

Drives work fine in my Synology RS3621RPxs however 1 drive had issues. After moving the drive around to other Synology NAS systems I have it was determined with 100% certainty it was a out of box failure. Oddly this has never happened to me, so I kept trouble shooting it.

I’m using 2 of these in a Synology DS220+ and am unable to connect to it on an iMac running macOS 12.2.1. The synology web link can access it and reports all is well, however all is NOT well. So far Synology tech support has made 2 unsuccssful suggestions, both of which resulted in popup warnings about resulting security risks. I’ll update this review if things improve, but so far very disappointed particularly given teh price.

The HAT5300 drives are fast, but a little on the noisy side. I read that they were Synology-branded Toshiba drives. It’s nice that Synology DSM updates can also update the drive’s firmware. Not sure how often that will occur. I have 8 of these configured in a RAID10 array. That, coupled with a 10G ethernet connection to my Mac mini M1, has allowed me to get between 900-1100 MB/sec read/write speeds as tested by Blackmagic. I went with these drives because of my love for all things Synology. That plus the MTBF, speed, and the very high workload rating made Synology a clear winner. These replaced 8 WD Red 8TB drives, some of which were getting bad sectors.

Excellent drives Fast but not noisy at all

Drive is in a Synology DS220+ and it failed after a few months of intermittent use. This is the first drive I’ve had fail over the past 40 (!) years, guess i’ve been lucky. I even fired up a 10 year old drive with no problems the other day. I expect more from an Enterprise drive.

Pricey, but didn’t want any issues with Synology. Long term the cost won’t matter. I am a home use that utilizes the system (DS1621XS+) for photo management and workflow, surveillance, and backup not only of home system but remote work site. Attached via a 10gbe backbone with speeds greater than 600 MB/s. Couldn’t be more thrilled. Purchased along with synology 12 TB hard drives (qty 6), 32GB ram, and 2 400GB NVME drives.
