The black/green 15.6" Spruce EcoSmart Backpack from Targus is a complete office for your back. Not only will it carry your 15.6" (39.6 cm) laptop but a host of other collateral material including files, business cards, storage drives and even a water bottle that is held in its own space safely away from the electronics.
The pack weighs a mere 2.4 lb (1.1 kg) making it a relatively lightweight way to transport all your office material while leaving your hands free for other pursuits such as writing or even enjoying a cup of coffee. It’s a comfortable pack supported by two padded adjustable shoulder straps and a padded back panel to lighten your load even more. Wearing the bag is customizable and comfortable.
Targus likes to be eco-friendly and you’ll find this pack is made of polyester from all recycled plastic material. In conjunction with their "green" approach to bag production, the interior lining is also green that helps you see what’s inside – especially when the ambient light is marginal. Additional features include a clever key clip for always knowing where your keys are, pen loops, business card holder and an MP3 space so you’ll never be without music while on the go.
Access is by zippers with each compartment having its own set. The pack is neatly organized with functionality as its core design. The laptop has its own zippered compartment, files are held in their own space and the smaller accessories (pens, etc) are in the outer zippered section to provide rapid access. Targus backs their Spruce EcoSmart Backpack with its limited lifetime warranty.

While this backpack doesnt look particularly stylish, it holds far more than my previous backpack while only being slightly larger. The biggest issue I run into with this pack is not being able to fill it fully due to the fact that it extends outwards, which puts a lot of strain on the back. If they improved the tops of the straps (which are better than most backpacks already) they could help alleviate this pain. This backpack easily swallows my laptop, several drawing pads, a surface pro, about 40 markers, a USB mouse and wireless Logitech keyboard, and still enough room left to store my wallet/phone! I really like the water bottle holder, it is far better than any elastic mesh design I’ve seen, and it can hold just about any size. It held a bottle of Sobe with slack left on the (elastic) cordage. Great pack and made with good stitching/fabric. Buy it if you want a backpack that will last a long time. P.s. The handle on top is extra reinforced, it feels rock solid even when the pack is loaded with 40+ pounds.

I carry my laptop, a few books, papers, etc. to and from work every day. I also use this backpack as a carry on when I travel. I bought this bag to replace a Dakine laptop backpack that came with a rollaboard suitcase I bought many years ago (whose zipper had broken). The laptop area is well padded, though I wish that compartment zipped all the way down. I guess they have reasons for this, but I’m still getting used to it. The bag looks cool and is well padded and comfortable on your back. It’s not enormous, but seems sturdy and big enough for my purposes (though it may be challenging to cram it with everything I’d want to carry with me on long flights). It has lots of specialized pockets and compartments. So far, so good (though I’ve only been using it for a few days now.
